The AVP – Backup & Storage Engineering is accountable for the design, implementation, and operation of enterprise backup and storage services across a highly regulated APAC environment. The role is responsible for ensuring solutions meet enterprise standards for resiliency, auditability, and regulatory compliance, while driving automation and integration with emerging AI-enabled operational capabilities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end design and implementation of enterprise backup solutions (Commvault / NetBackup) and integration with storage platforms (SAN/NAS/Object).

  • Ensure backup and storage services meet defined RTO/RPO, resiliency, and regulatory requirements in alignment with enterprise standards.

  • Drive automation of backup and recovery workflows using scripting, orchestration, and API-based integrations.

  • Develop and integrate intelligent automation capabilities, including AI-driven insights for operational optimization and risk reduction.

  • Maintain and enforce operational standards, SOPs, and architecture guardrails with clear audit traceability.

  • Support and lead audit activities, ensuring control compliance, evidence readiness, and remediation of findings.

  • Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and security teams to embed backup and recovery in platform design.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across service stability, scalability, and operational efficiency.

    -Consulted with Risk, Security, and Architecture teams on control requirements and deviations

    -Informed to stakeholders on service health, risk posture, and audit outcomes

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in backup and storage engineering roles.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Commvault and/or NetBackup.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in enterprise solution design and implementation (production environments).

  • Solid understanding of enterprise storage platforms (SAN/NAS/Object).

  • Demonstrated experience in automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python, REST APIs).

  • Experience integrating automation with AI/analytics-driven operational enhancements.

  • Strong understanding of control frameworks, audit processes, and regulatory expectations.

  • Ability to operate within defined RACI models with clear ownership and separation of duties.

  • Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Highly regulated financial services environment with frequent audits and strong governance requirements across APAC.
