Position: Distribution Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, manage, and oversee the distribution of products to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
- Develop and implement efficient distribution strategies to improve service levels and reduce operating costs.
- Coordinate with suppliers, warehouses, logistics providers, and customers to ensure smooth distribution operations.
- Manage inventory movement and monitor stock availability to prevent shortages or overstocking.
- Supervise warehouse, logistics, and delivery personnel, ensuring productivity and compliance with company standards.
- Schedule and optimise delivery routes to maximise efficiency and minimise transportation costs.
- Monitor delivery performance and ensure orders are fulfilled accurately and on time.
- Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, workplace safety requirements, and company policies.
- Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers, courier services, and transport contractors.
- Investigate and resolve delivery delays, damaged goods, customer complaints, and other distribution-related issues.
- Prepare distribution schedules, operational reports, inventory reports, and key performance indicators for management.
- Monitor distribution expenses and manage budgets to achieve cost-effective operations.
- Coordinate with the sales, procurement, and operations teams to ensure product availability and customer satisfaction.
- Implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, productivity, and service quality.
- Oversee stock transfers between warehouses, outlets, or distribution centres where applicable.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide training, coaching, and guidance to distribution staff.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory movements, deliveries, transportation documentation, and logistics activities.
- Ensure company vehicles, equipment, and distribution assets are properly maintained and utilised.
- Develop contingency plans to minimise disruptions caused by supply chain issues or operational challenges.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Directors or Management that are consistent with the role.
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent planning, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Good knowledge of logistics, warehouse management, and supply chain operations.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret operational data and performance metrics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and inventory or logistics management systems.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in logistics, distribution, or supply chain management is preferred.
