Position: Distribution Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and oversee the distribution of products to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
  • Develop and implement efficient distribution strategies to improve service levels and reduce operating costs.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, warehouses, logistics providers, and customers to ensure smooth distribution operations.
  • Manage inventory movement and monitor stock availability to prevent shortages or overstocking.
  • Supervise warehouse, logistics, and delivery personnel, ensuring productivity and compliance with company standards.
  • Schedule and optimise delivery routes to maximise efficiency and minimise transportation costs.
  • Monitor delivery performance and ensure orders are fulfilled accurately and on time.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, workplace safety requirements, and company policies.
  • Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers, courier services, and transport contractors.
  • Investigate and resolve delivery delays, damaged goods, customer complaints, and other distribution-related issues.
  • Prepare distribution schedules, operational reports, inventory reports, and key performance indicators for management.
  • Monitor distribution expenses and manage budgets to achieve cost-effective operations.
  • Coordinate with the sales, procurement, and operations teams to ensure product availability and customer satisfaction.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, productivity, and service quality.
  • Oversee stock transfers between warehouses, outlets, or distribution centres where applicable.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide training, coaching, and guidance to distribution staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory movements, deliveries, transportation documentation, and logistics activities.
  • Ensure company vehicles, equipment, and distribution assets are properly maintained and utilised.
  • Develop contingency plans to minimise disruptions caused by supply chain issues or operational challenges.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Directors or Management that are consistent with the role.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent planning, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good knowledge of logistics, warehouse management, and supply chain operations.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret operational data and performance metrics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and inventory or logistics management systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience in logistics, distribution, or supply chain management is preferred.
