Sales Assistant

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and assist customers in a friendly, professional, and courteous manner.
  • Understand customers' needs and recommend suitable products or services.
  • Process sales transactions accurately using the Point of Sale (POS) system.
  • Handle cash, credit card, and digital payments while maintaining accurate records.
  • Ensure products are properly displayed, stocked, and attractively presented.
  • Replenish shelves and monitor inventory levels, reporting low stock to management.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sales floor, storage areas, and counters.
  • Answer customer enquiries regarding products, pricing, promotions, and store policies.
  • Assist in receiving, checking, labeling, and storing incoming stock.
  • Support stocktaking and inventory audits as required.
  • Promote ongoing promotions, loyalty programs, and special offers to customers.
  • Handle customer complaints or feedback professionally and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Assist in opening and closing the store according to company procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and hygiene standards.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to achieve daily and monthly sales targets.
  • Help prepare reports or sales records when requested by supervisors.
  • Safeguard company property and prevent stock loss or theft.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Store Manager or Management that are consistent with the role.

  • Basic numeracy and cash-handling skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light lifting when required.
  • Previous retail or customer service experience is an advantage but not essential.
  • Basic computer and POS system knowledge is preferred.
