The Group is a leading international producer and trader of ethanol, with strong fuel ethanol positions in Europe and Canada, and a well‑established non‑fuel trading platform worldwide and in Asia (Singapore, Korea, Philippines).

With multiple Asian countries introducing or expanding fuel ethanol blending mandates, the Group aims to build a structured and long-term presence in Asian fuel markets through trading, partnerships and potentially targeted investments.

This role is created to build a deep understanding of Asian fuel ethanol markets and help structure scalable growth models for the region.

Role Objective

The Fuel Ethanol Trader will analyse, structure and support the development of fuel ethanol markets in Asia by mapping supply & demand dynamics, physical flows, logistics constraints and partnership opportunities, and by supporting strategic decisions on market entry and long-term positioning. Alongside this, they will actively manage the trade of all fuel ethanol positions in the Asia region

Key Responsibilities

Market & Regulatory

Analyse existing and upcoming fuel ethanol mandates across Asia (Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, Japan, others).

Assess regulatory frameworks, timelines and structural market implications.

Supply-Side & Sourcing

Engage with regional suppliers in China, Thailand, India and other Asian origins to assess production, export potential and partnership opportunities.

Coordinate with US and Brazil teams to evaluate export flows and competitiveness into Asia.

Logistics & Physical Flows

Map shipping routes, terminal access, storage capacity and bottlenecks across Asian markets.

Analyse logistics costs, risks and value creation opportunities.

Demand & Commercial Structuring

Identify buyers, blenders and distributors across key markets.

Understand procurement structures and propose optimal go to market models (trading, partnerships, agency).

Commercial Structuring

Identify and engage buyers, distributors, and strategic partners

Manage the region fuel ethanol trading book

Understand customer procurement models and decision-making processes

Propose and implement optimal go-to-market strategies (direct trading, partnerships, agency models)

Strategic & Long-Term Perspective

Contribute to the “trade vs partnership vs investment” reflection for each market.

Build early-stage investment and platform thinking where relevant (e.g. Thailand), ensuring a head start for future decisions.

Candidate Profile

5–8 years’ experience in commodities, energy, biofuels and physical trading/logistics environments.

Strong analytical skills combined with a pragmatic, commercial mindset.

Solid understanding of physical flows, shipping and supply chain economics.

Asia exposure strongly preferred.

Fluent English required; Asian language(s) a plus.
