Workday Master Architect (Tenant Health & Process Transformation)

Key Responsibilities

● Conduct a comprehensive, end-to-end technical audit of the live Workday tenant configuration to map legacy technical debt and identify systemic points of failure.

● Review all current worker data mappings, duplicate job profiles, and reporting gaps that currently restrict accurate workforce tracking and cross-functional reporting.

● Evaluate existing Workday Business Processes BPs and notification frameworks to distinguish between minor process gaps and fundamentally flawed architectures.

● Systematically dismantle and rebuild "clogged," overly rigid, or non-standard workflows (such as over-engineered, multi-level approval matrices).

● Streamline cross-functional security group assignments, permission hierarchies, and collaborative intersections between different HR modules.

● Distinguish where the engagement should remain advisory vs. where hands-on configuration/reconfiguration support is required to address technical debt.

● Support stakeholder alignment across HR leaders, Finance executives, People Service Center PSC, and GTS Service Owners to translate technical system limitations into clear strategic choices.

Expected Deliverables in First 36 Months

● Comprehensive end-to-end technical audit of the live Workday tenant configuration mapping technical debt.

● Detailed Remediation Plan outlining critical configurations that must be optimized, modernized, or decommissioned.

● Standardized "Acquisition Profile Template" to build repeatable, plug-and-play scaling for future M&A onboarding workstreams.

● Strategic Audit Report containing comprehensive tenant findings and a definitive technical recommendation advising leadership whether to proceed on an iterative Reconfiguration path or execute a Greenfield Reimplementation.

● Re-engineered, streamlined Workday Business Process BP workflows and security-group permission hierarchies.

Required Experience

● Proven track record acting as a Workday Master Architect, Solution Architect, or Principal Consultant, with deep hands-on configuration expertise across Core HCM, Compensation, Benefits, Absence, and Time Tracking modules.

● Extensive background leading multi-market Workday tenant audits, data-cleansing strategies, and complex instance remediation for technology enterprises scaling beyond 10,000 workers.

● Demonstrated capacity to evaluate enterprise-scale instances and deliver comprehensive cost-benefit/risk analyses comparing complex reconfiguration options against full greenfield reimplementations.

● Expert-level knowledge of Workday Business Process BP architecture, configuration dependencies, security-group modeling, and custom conditional routing rules.

● Ability to operate as a consultative partner, working across business, HR, IT, and architecture stakeholders to translate highly technical system limitations into clear strategic choices.

Preferred Experience

● Strong technical comprehension of how core Workday data transformations impact downstream enterprise applications (such as Oracle ERP, Oracle EPM, SmartRecruiters, and custom middleware layers).

● Experience moving from strategy and comprehensive health audits to complex tenant remediation or full greenfield reimplementation delivery in complex environments.

● Familiarity with building robust data foundations for future enterprise AI/automation adoption and Agentic AI capabilities.
