Sales Manager – Roles and Responsibilities

1. Sales Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve company revenue targets.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual sales plans.
  • Identify new business opportunities and target markets.
  • Forecast sales and prepare budgets.

2. Team Management

  • Recruit, train, coach, and mentor sales representatives.
  • Set individual sales targets and performance goals.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews.
  • Motivate the sales team to achieve and exceed targets.

3. Sales Performance Monitoring

  • Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly sales performance.
  • Analyze sales reports and identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement corrective actions when sales targets are not met.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs).

4. Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers.
  • Resolve customer complaints and ensure high customer satisfaction.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and business agreements.
  • Retain existing customers while acquiring new ones.

5. Business Development

  • Identify potential clients and expand the customer base.
  • Develop partnerships with distributors, retailers, and corporate clients.
  • Explore opportunities in new territories and market segments.
  • Monitor competitor activities and market trends.

6. Revenue & Profit Management

  • Drive sales growth while maintaining profitability.
  • Monitor pricing strategies and profit margins.
  • Ensure achievement of revenue and gross profit targets.
  • Manage discounts and promotional activities effectively.

7. Inventory & Sales Coordination

  • Coordinate with operations and inventory teams to ensure product availability.
  • Prevent stock shortages and overstock situations.
  • Plan sales promotions based on inventory levels.

8. Reporting & Administration

  • Prepare sales reports and present them to senior management.
  • Maintain accurate sales records and customer databases.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor sales expenses and budgets.

9. Marketing Collaboration

  • Work closely with the marketing team on campaigns and promotions.
  • Provide market feedback to improve products and services.
  • Participate in product launches and promotional events.

10. Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure ethical sales practices and compliance with company policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of customer and company information.
  • Ensure all sales activities comply with relevant laws and regulations.
