Job Summary

Lead financial accounting and reporting functions to ensure accurate, timely financial information. Manage cash flow, budgeting, compliance, and team performance to support business growth in the logistics and freight forwarding sector.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements following company policies and accounting standards to ensure accurate reporting
  • Complete timely month-end and year-end closing processes to meet reporting deadlines
  • Review general ledger entries, journal vouchers, and account reconciliations to maintain data accuracy
  • Analyze financial performance and explain variances against budgets and prior periods to inform management decisions
  • Develop management reports and financial presentations for senior leadership to support strategic planning
  • Oversee Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions to maintain healthy cash flow and supplier relationships
  • Monitor customer collections and ageing reports to ensure timely payments and cash availability
  • Review supplier payments and ensure timely settlement to maintain vendor trust
  • Resolve billing discrepancies by collaborating with operations and customers to uphold financial accuracy
  • Monitor daily cash positions and forecast cash flow requirements to support operational needs
  • Prepare weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts to anticipate funding requirements
  • Coordinate with banks on banking facilities, transfers, and payment arrangements to optimize treasury operations
  • Ensure adequate working capital to support ongoing business activities and growth
  • Assist in preparing the annual budget and financial forecasts to guide financial planning
  • Monitor departmental expenditures against approved budgets to control costs
  • Provide financial analysis to support business decisions and improve profitability
  • Prepare and review GST returns to ensure compliance with local tax regulations
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, bankers, and regulatory authorities to fulfill statutory requirements
  • Support annual audit and statutory reporting to maintain regulatory compliance
  • Ensure adherence to accounting standards and company policies for financial integrity
  • Monitor operational costs including freight, warehouse, transportation, and overhead expenses to identify savings
  • Analyze shipment profitability and gross margins to support pricing and business strategy
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs through process analysis
  • Support pricing analysis and business proposals to enhance revenue generation
  • Maintain effective internal controls and finance procedures to safeguard company assets
  • Recommend process improvements to enhance financial accuracy and operational efficiency
  • Participate in finance system implementation or enhancement projects to support digital transformation
  • Support SAP system improvements and automation initiatives to streamline finance operations
  • Supervise and guide the Finance team to ensure high performance and development
  • Review work performed by team members to maintain quality and compliance
  • Provide coaching and training to improve team competency and skills
  • Assist in performance management and staff development to build a capable finance team

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • CPA, ACCA, CA, or equivalent professional qualification is an advantage
  • Experience in freight forwarding, logistics, shipping, transportation, or supply chain industry is preferred
