MARINE MECHANIC

We are looking for an experienced Marine Mechanic to join our marine operations team. You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing marine machinery to ensure our workboats, tugboats, and crane barges operate safely and efficiently. This role is suitable for candidates with strong hands-on experience in marine engine maintenance and troubleshooting who are comfortable working onboard vessels and at offshore project sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on main engines, generators, gearboxes, pumps, hydraulic systems, compressors, and other auxiliary machinery.
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical breakdowns onboard vessels, responding promptly to operational issues.
- Perform routine servicing, lubrication, filter replacement, and machinery inspections in accordance with the Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
- Assist with vessel docking, machinery overhauls, shaft alignment, and sea trials following repairs.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, spare parts usage, and report machinery defects to the Marine Manager.
- Ensure all maintenance work is carried out safely and in compliance with company procedures and Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) requirements.
Requirements
- NITEC, Higher NITEC, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in marine engine maintenance and repair.
- Strong knowledge of marine diesel engines, generators, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, pumps, and auxiliary machinery.
- Able to carry out troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and equipment overhauls independently.
- Experience working onboard workboats, tugboats, crane barges, or similar marine vessels.
- Able to read technical manuals and maintenance drawings.
- Basic spoken and written English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the marine construction industry.
- Familiarity with crane barges, tugboats, and other marine support vessels.
- Possession of relevant marine safety certifications is an advantage.
Working Environment
- Based at Singapore Port and various project sites.
- Required to work onboard workboats, tugboats, and crane barges.
- Willing to stay onboard during project operations when required.
- Comfortable working at offshore and marine construction project sites.
