Project Manager / Assistant Project Manager

About the Role
We are looking for a Project Manager / Assistant Project Manager to support and lead the delivery of the Sentosa Monorail Overhaul Project in Singapore.
The successful candidate will be involved in the management and coordination of monorail vehicle overhaul activities including bogie overhaul, brake systems, electrical and mechanical systems, testing and commissioning, and depot-based project execution.
This role is suitable for candidates with railway or rolling stock project experience who are comfortable working in a fast-paced multinational environment involving close coordination with both Singapore and Japan teams.
The position offers the opportunity to work closely with clients, headquarters, subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams throughout the full project lifecycle.
Roles & Responsibilities
1. Project Management & Coordination
- Support and manage project activities for the Sentosa Monorail Overhaul Project from planning to final delivery
- Coordinate project schedules, execution plans, and progress tracking in English, and in Japanese where required for communication with Japan headquarters and technical stakeholders
- Monitor project progress to ensure work activities are completed according to project schedule, technical requirements, safety standards, and quality expectations
- Coordinate closely with clients, headquarters, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams for smooth project execution
- Support project meetings, technical discussions, reporting, and follow-up actions
2. Site Supervision & Technical Coordination
- Supervise depot-based overhaul activities including vehicle overhaul, bogie overhaul, brake systems, and electrical and mechanical systems
- Coordinate daily site activities with site managers, engineers, technicians, and subcontractors
- Support testing and commissioning activities to ensure successful project completion
- Monitor site safety, QA/QC activities, and compliance with project procedures and requirements
- Identify project issues, delays, and technical challenges, and work with relevant teams to implement corrective actions
3. Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and manage technical documents, project reports, schedules, meeting minutes, and progress updates in English, and in Japanese where required for Japan headquarters coordination and technical documentation
- Maintain proper project documentation and records for project monitoring and client reporting
- Support preparation and review of inspection records, testing documents, and completion reports
- Ensure timely submission and coordination of project documentation with relevant stakeholders
4. Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Coordinate with clients, Japan headquarters, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers in English, and in Japanese where required for project coordination and technical matters
- Support procurement coordination, vendor management, and subcontractor follow-up activities
- Maintain good communication and coordination among all project parties to support project delivery objectives
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in railway, rolling stock, or infrastructure projects
- Experience in project coordination, site supervision, testing and commissioning, or overhaul projects
- Railway vehicle technical knowledge is required
- Experience in monorail projects will be an advantage
- Good understanding of railway vehicle systems including bogie, brake, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Ability to prepare and coordinate project documentation and reporting in English; Japanese proficiency is required where needed for Japan headquarters coordination and technical documentation
- Strong communication and coordination skills in English; Japanese communication ability is required for Japan headquarters liaison, technical documentation, and project coordination
- Able to work independently and manage multiple project activities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving, coordination, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Experience
- Experience in monorail, train/railway vehicle, or railway engineering projects
- Experience in rolling stock overhaul projects
- Experience working with Japan-based stakeholders, Japanese technical documentation, or projects involving Japan headquarters coordination
- Experience in testing and commissioning activities
- Experience in overseas coordination and multinational project environments
- Familiarity with depot operations and maintenance activities
