Accounting Manager

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee the financial operations across our portfolio of properties. In this role, you will lead our day-to-day property accounting functions, manage financial reporting, ensure strict regulatory and tax compliance, and supervise our accounting staff.

The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in accounting principles, strong analytical skills, and hands-on experience with property management software.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial closing processes for the property portfolio.

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statement packages (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and variance analysis) for owners and leadership.

  • Monitor portfolio cash flow, perform regular cash flow forecasting, and manage capital calls or distribution calculations.

Property Accounting Operations

  • Manage Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP), ensuring accurate rent roll administration, tenant billing, lease abstraction, and vendor payments.

  • Oversee common area maintenance (CAM), operating expense (OpEx) reconciliations, and annual tenant pass-through calculations.

  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations for operational and security deposit accounts.

Budgeting & Compliance

  • Partner with Property Managers to prepare annual property operating budgets and capital expenditure (CapEx) forecasts.

  • Coordinate external audits, tax preparation with CPA firms, and ensure local property tax and regulatory compliance.

  • Maintain internal control procedures to safeguard company and client assets.

Team Leadership & Process Improvement

  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate junior accountants and property accounting staff.

  • Streamline accounting workflows and leverage property management software to increase operational efficiency.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

  • Certification: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), ACCA, or equivalent professional designation preferred.

  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2–3 years in property management or real estate accounting.

  • Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with major industry software and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP / local accounting standards, tenant lease structures, and CAM reconciliations.

  • Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a high level of integrity and attention to detail.
