The Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations (SCWO) was established in 1980 as the national coordinating body of women’s organisations in Singapore. SCWO has more than 60 member organisations, which represent over 600,000 women, and it serves to unite them to work toward ideals of ‘Equal Space, Equal Voice and Equal Worth’ for women in Singapore.
We are looking for a Counsellor, Workplace Counselling & Support Service.
The Counsellor provides trauma-informed counselling and psychosocial support to individuals affected by workplace discrimination and harassment. Working within a multi disciplinary team, the Counsellor delivers individual counselling, case management, risk assessment, crisis intervention, and referrals to support clients in their recovery and wellbeing.
The Counsellor will support clients through a range of service delivery channels, including telephone, text-based, online and face-to-face counselling. In addition to direct service delivery, the role contributes to programme development, outreach, public education, research and stakeholder engagement to increase awareness of workplace discrimination and harassment and promote help-seeking behaviours.
Key Responsibilities
Counselling and Case Management
- Provide professional, trauma-informed counselling to clients experiencing workplace discrimination and harassment.
- Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments, risk assessments and safety planning where appropriate.
- Develop, implement and review client care and intervention plans based on clients' needs and therapeutic goals.
- Maintain an active counselling caseload, including clients presenting with complex emotional and psychological needs.
- Deliver counselling services through multiple platforms, including face-to-face, telephone, text-based and virtual channels.
- Provide crisis intervention and appropriate follow-up support where required.
- Facilitate referrals to relevant agencies, partners, healthcare providers and community resources to support clients' holistic needs.
Clinical Practice
- Maintain accurate, timely and confidential case records, assessments, case notes and reports in accordance with organisational policies and professional ethical standards.
- Participate in case discussions, case conferences and multidisciplinary meetings.
- Monitor client progress and evaluate counselling outcomes to support continuous improvement in service delivery.
- Participate in regular clinical supervision and professional development.
- Ensure all services are delivered in accordance with ethical guidelines, safeguarding requirements and organisational policies.
Outreach and Programme Development
- Design and facilitate talks, workshops and psychoeducation programmes for clients, employers, community partners and other stakeholders on workplace discrimination, harassment, wellbeing and related topics.
- Contribute to the development of counselling resources, educational materials and programme initiatives.
- Support research, needs assessments and programme evaluation to strengthen service effectiveness and identify emerging community needs.
Partnership and Community Engagement
- Build collaborative relationships with community organisations, government agencies, healthcare providers, employers and referral partners.
- Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to strengthen referral pathways and promote the Workplace Counselling & Support Service.
- Support outreach, publicity and engagement activities to increase awareness of the service and encourage help-seeking.
Service Operations
- Support the daily operations of the Workplace Counselling & Support Service, including intake, appointment scheduling and service coordination.
- Assist in collecting service statistics and preparing reports for programme monitoring and funding requirements.
- Participate in fundraising, public education and advocacy initiatives in support of SCWO's mission.
- Undertake other duties and projects as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications and experience
· Master’s or Degree in Counselling from a recognised institution.
· Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in counselling.
· Experience supporting survivors of trauma, abuse, violence or other complex psychosocial issues.
· Experience in individual counselling, risk assessment, case management and crisis intervention.
· Experience conducting psychoeducation programmes, group work or community outreach will bean advantage.
· Singaporean and PR only.
Skills
· Strong understanding of trauma-informed and client-centred counselling approaches.
· Ability to conduct comprehensive assessments and develop appropriate intervention plans.
· Excellent interpersonal, communication and active listening skills.
· Strong case documentation, report writing and organisational skills.
· Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinaryteam.
· Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
