About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to manage the commercial and contractual aspects of construction and engineering projects. You will be responsible for project cost management, contract administration, progress claims, variation orders, loss and expense claims, and final accounts to ensure projects are delivered profitably and in accordance with contractual requirements.

The ideal candidate is commercially driven, detail-oriented, and possesses strong analytical, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare project cost estimates, budgets, cash flow forecasts and cost reports throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor project costs, expenditures and profitability, ensuring projects remain within approved budgets.
  • Conduct cost analysis and identify commercial risks and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Prepare, submit and negotiate progress claims in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Evaluate and certify subcontractors' and suppliers' payment claims.
  • Monitor project payment status and follow up on outstanding receivables.
  • Prepare, evaluate and negotiate Variation Orders (VO), including cost breakdowns and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare and administer Loss & Expense (L&E) claims arising from project delays, disruptions and other contractual events.
  • Prepare, negotiate and finalise project final accounts with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring timely project closure.
  • Review contract documents, specifications and project requirements to identify commercial and contractual risks.
  • Maintain accurate commercial records, contractual correspondence and supporting documentation for claims, variations and final accounts.
  • Liaise with Project Managers, Engineers, Consultants, Clients and Subcontractors on commercial and contractual matters.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide updates on project costs, claims, commercial risks and project financial performance.
  • Support procurement activities, including quotation reviews, tender evaluations and subcontractor engagement where required.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, company policies and project procedures.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Building, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant Quantity Surveying experience in the construction, engineering, M&E, ACMV or built environment industry.
  • Proven experience in Progress Claims, Variation Orders (VO), Loss & Expense (L&E) Claims, Contract Administration and Final Account preparation and negotiation.
  • Strong knowledge of project cost control, commercial management and construction contracts.
  • Experience managing project commercial matters from project commencement through to final account settlement.
  • Familiarity with standard forms of construction contracts will be an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal project teams.
  • Able to work independently, manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
