Fund accountant
KEPLER SEARCH PTE. LTD.
Fund Accountant
Client: Confidential.
Location: Singapore
The Opportunity
Our client is a diversified maritime group centred on ship owning, with businesses spanning drybulk shipping operations and shipping fund investment. They are looking to hire a Fund Accountant in Singapore to run day-to-day accounting across the fund and vessel-owning entities.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare the full set of accounts for the fund and vessel-owning SPVs, including monthly close, P&L, and balance sheet
- Maintain balance sheet accuracy across entities, including vessel carrying values, loan balances, intercompany positions, accruals, and cash reconciliations
- Account for vessel assets through the full lifecycle: acquisition, capitalisation, depreciation and residual values, dry-docking costs, impairment support, and disposals
- Prepare NAV calculations and investor reporting for the shipping fund, including capital calls and distributions
- Maintain accounting for ship mortgages and other vessel financing, including drawdowns, repayments, covenant reporting, and interest schedules
- Reconcile voyage and charter hire revenue, bunker costs, and opex with the operations and chartering teams
- Handle multi-currency accounting across USD-functional entities
- Support audit, tax filings, and bank reporting across Hong Kong and Singapore
- Assist with consolidation and management reporting to group leadership
Requirements
- 2 to 4 years of accounting experience gained in a shipowner, ship manager, ship leasing platform, or another asset-heavy business, or in audit with shipping, leasing, or real asset clients
- A genuine command of the balance sheet and strong double-entry fundamentals, with the ability to investigate and resolve reconciliation breaks independently
- Exposure to fixed asset accounting is essential; direct experience with vessels, dry-dock component accounting, or ship finance is a strong advantage
- Candidates from fund administration will be considered where they have worked on maritime, infrastructure, or other real asset fund structures rather than purely fee-based NAV production
- Degree in Accountancy or equivalent; CA or CPA part-qualified or qualified preferred
- Fluent Mandarin is required, as the role works closely with Chinese-speaking counterparties across the group, banks, and shipyards
- High attention to detail and the willingness to learn quickly in a lean team spanning fund, SPV, and group-level work
