Position Summary
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team responsible for driving the Company's operational excellence, business execution, and organizational growth. The COO will oversee day-to-day operations across research & development, manufacturing, quality, regulatory, supply chain, finance, human resources, and corporate administration to ensure alignment with the Company's strategic objectives.
The COO will work closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, investors, and external partners to scale the business, strengthen operational capabilities, support fundraising initiatives, and prepare the Company for commercialization and future public listing, where applicable.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
· Partner with the CEO to develop and execute the Company's strategic and operational plans.
· Translate corporate strategy into measurable operational objectives.
· Lead organizational planning and performance management across all business functions.
· Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
Operations Management
· Oversee daily operations, including:
o Research & Development
o Manufacturing / GMP Operations
o Quality Assurance & Quality Control
o Regulatory Affairs
o Clinical Operations (where applicable)
o Supply Chain & Procurement
o Information Technology
o Human Resources & Administration
· Establish scalable operational processes and governance frameworks.
· Ensure cross-functional collaboration and efficient resource allocation.
Financial & Business Management
· Work closely with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and cost optimization.
· Monitor operational KPIs and financial performance.
· Improve operational efficiency while maintaining compliance and quality standards.
· Support corporate planning and resource prioritization.
Commercial & Business Development
· Support commercialization strategy and product launch planning.
· Build and maintain strategic partnerships with pharmaceutical companies, research institutions, CROs, CDMOs, distributors, and key stakeholders.
· Participate in licensing, collaboration, and business development activities.
Fundraising & Investor Relations
· Support fundraising activities including venture capital, strategic investments, and IPO readiness.
· Coordinate investor due diligence, data rooms, and operational presentations.
· Present operational updates to investors and Board members when required.
Regulatory & Compliance
· Ensure compliance with applicable regulations including GMP, GCP, GLP, ISO standards, HSA, FDA, EMA, and other relevant regulatory authorities.
· Oversee enterprise risk management and business continuity planning.
· Ensure corporate governance standards are maintained.
Leadership & Culture
· Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing leadership team.
· Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
· Drive organizational development and succession planning.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's Degree in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Biomedical Science, Engineering, Pharmacy, Business Administration, or related discipline.
· MBA or other postgraduate qualification preferred.
· Minimum 15 years of leadership experience, including at least 8 years in senior management within biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device, or life sciences industries.
· Experience scaling high-growth biotechnology companies preferred.
· Experience supporting fundraising, mergers & acquisitions, strategic partnerships, or IPO preparation is highly desirable.
· Strong knowledge of GMP, regulatory compliance, quality systems, and commercialization processes.
· Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
· Fluency in Chinese and English is required. The candidate must be able to speak Mandarin for communication with stakeholders and teams in China.
