Job Description
- Develop 3D models and 2D drawings for sheet metal parts.
- Apply GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Ensure manufacturability with proper bend radii, reliefs, and K-factor considerations.
- Align with ASTM, JIS, SAE standards for sheet thickness, mechanical properties, and coatings.
- Define stamping, bending, welding, and laser cutting processes.
- Collaborate with toolmakers on die design and fixture feasibility.
- Conduct DFMEA/PFMEA for sheet metal parts.
- Perform tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Support NCR resolution and corrective actions for dimensional conflicts.
- Conduct CMM inspections and dimensional verification.
- Perform stress/corrosion resistance checks.
- Ensure parts meet strength, corrosion resistance, and durability requirements.
- Support FAI (First Article Inspection).
- Work with procurement on supplier capability and cost optimization.
- Provide technical clarifications to Production and QA teams.
- Document BOMs, ECNs, and process sheets.
Additional Information
- CAD proficiency (SolidWorks and Auto Desk Inventor).
- Strong knowledge of sheet metal design rules.
- Familiarity with stamping/welding tolerances and fabrication.
- Hands-on experience with inspection tools (CMM, Calipers, gauges).
- Ability to troubleshoot supplier discrepancies and machining issues.
- Understanding of GD&T and tolerance analysis.
- PowerPoint presentation and other software related to drawings and management system.
- Familiarity with international material standards (ASTM, JIS, SAE)
- Strong knowledge of sheet metal design rules (bend radius, K-factor, reliefs)
