Quantum Software Architect (Quantum Computing & Fault Tolerance)
ENTROPICA LABS PTE. LTD.
Company Description
Entropica Labs is a Singapore-based quantum computing software company building the software infrastructure that will enable fault-tolerant quantum computing. We develop tools that bridge quantum hardware, quantum error correction, and software engineering, enabling researchers and industrial partners to build the next generation of quantum technologies.
Our work spans research, software engineering, and customer collaboration, translating cutting-edge ideas into practical software systems for emerging quantum hardware.
About the Team
We are a small, highly collaborative team of scientists and engineers who enjoy tackling difficult technical problems together. Our projects sit at the intersection of quantum computing research, software engineering, and hardware architecture, often in close collaboration with industrial partners.
Because of our size, everyone contributes directly to the codebase while helping shape the technical direction of the company. We value curiosity, ownership, and thoughtful engineering over rigid roles.
About the Role
As a Quantum Software Architect, you will help define and build the software systems that underpin fault-tolerant quantum computing.
You will work directly with customers and collaborators to understand their technical challenges, translate those challenges into software architecture, and lead projects through design and implementation. While you will provide technical leadership for projects, you will also work alongside the team as an active software developer, contributing directly to the implementation of the systems you help design.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving difficult technical problems that lie between research, engineering, and system design, and who is excited to take ownership within a small and fast-moving team.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You will define software architecture, lead technical projects, and contribute directly to the implementation. In our team, architects build software alongside the engineers they work with.
Because we’re a small team, roles are intentionally fluid. One week you might be discussing requirements with a hardware partner, the next designing a software architecture, reviewing a teammate’s implementation, or writing core components yourself. We value people who are excited by this breadth and enjoy taking ownership from idea to delivery.
What You’ll Do
Technical Architecture & Software Development
- Design and develop software for quantum computing, with an emphasis on fault-tolerant architectures and Quantum Error Correction.
- Define software architecture and APIs that are scalable, maintainable, and adaptable to evolving hardware platforms.
- Work directly in the codebase, implementing features, reviewing code, and maintaining high software quality.
- Make architectural decisions that balance research goals with practical engineering considerations.
Project Leadership
- Take ownership of technical projects from initial concept through successful delivery.
- Break complex problems into achievable milestones and guide projects through implementation.
- Coordinate closely with teammates, ensuring technical decisions remain aligned across the project.
- Communicate project progress, technical risks, and design decisions to both internal and external stakeholders.
Customer & Research Collaboration
- Work with customers and research collaborators to understand their scientific and engineering objectives.
- Help define technical approaches that address customer needs while remaining grounded in sound software engineering.
- Present technical concepts, software designs, and project outcomes to collaborators and clients.
- Translate emerging research into practical software capabilities where appropriate.
What You’ll Bring
Essential
- Strong foundations in quantum computing, physics, computer science, mathematics, or a closely related discipline.
- Excellent software engineering skills, particularly in Python.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems with creativity and rigor.
- Strong systems thinking and an interest in software architecture and design.
- Ability to take ownership of technical decisions and drive projects forward.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute wherever needed in a small team.
Desirable
- Familiarity with Quantum Error Correction or fault-tolerant quantum computing.
- Experience developing scientific or engineering software.
- Experience designing software libraries, APIs, or distributed systems.
- Experience working closely with researchers or multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Familiarity with modern software engineering practices, including Git, automated testing, and continuous integration.
Experience with Quantum Error Correction or fault-tolerant quantum computing is advantageous, but not required. We are equally interested in candidates who have demonstrated the ability to master technically demanding fields quickly.
We think you’ll succeed in this role if you…
- Enjoy tackling difficult technical problems without a predefined solution.
- Can move comfortably between scientific thinking, software engineering, and systems design.
- Take ownership and naturally step into leadership when a project needs direction.
- Are curious and enjoy learning unfamiliar domains quickly.
- Like working closely with teammates and customers to turn ideas into working software.
- Care about writing clean, maintainable software without losing sight of the bigger technical picture.
