Job / Role Summary

The DMTS is a top technical authority and industry expert who defines, develops, and transfers advanced NAND dry etch processes, shapes equipment and process roadmaps, benchmarks against industry standards, and resolves the most complex yield/defectivity/integration challenges. This role carries broad technical vision, deep domain expertise, strong external engagement, and responsibility for elevating technical capability through mentorship of senior technical leaders.

Main Responsibilities

  • Act as technical expert for dry etch process, hardware, and applications in NAND technology development; provide forward-looking insight on trends, capabilities, and integration risks.

  • Define the equipment roadmap and drive mechanism-focused hardware roadmaps with suppliers for next-generation NAND dry etch.

  • Benchmark dry etch capability against industry standards and translate external findings into internal advantage.

  • Resolve the most complex NAND yield/defectivity/integration issues using deep expertise in plasma physics, surface interactions, and materials.

  • Represent Micron’s NAND dry etch interests in cross-site and external technical forums/conferences; influence cross-disciplinary teams.

  • Champion AI-based solutions through the TD ecosystem (as explicitly stated in the DMTS posting).

Other Responsibilities

  • Provide technical mentorship and direction to SMTS/STS engineers; raise overall dry etch technical capability within the organization.

  • Lead multi-functional efforts across Technology Development, Process Integration, and Manufacturing; provide critical updates to leadership stakeholders.

  • Integrates AI-assisted tools and insights into daily work to improve efficiency, quality, or effectiveness, exercising sound judgment and complying with organizational standards and legal requirements.

  • Contributes to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, testing, and sharing AI-enabled enhancements within one’s scope of work.

Candidate Profile

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

  • PhD ≥15 yrs, or Master’s ≥17 yrs, of relevant experience in

    Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or related field, in Dry Etch

  • Senior dry etch PD experience in R&D with technology transfer

  • Evidence of external/industry recognition and ability to represent the organization technically

  • innovation leader: patents, publications, invited talks, leadership roles in technical committees/consortia.

Must-have technical skills

  • Deep plasma physics/chemistry and advanced etch scalability expertise (HAR, tailored pulsing schemes), and strong SPC/analysis mastery.

  • Ability to drive equipment roadmaps and supplier co-development.

Must-have soft skills

  • Enterprise-level influence, mentorship of senior technical leaders, and strong executive communication/presence.

Highly desirable / preferred

  • Strong AI/data science capability applied to process monitoring, defectivity learning, and technical decision acceleration.
