Project Engineer (Electrical)

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Assist in project engineering activities including electrical installation works, testing, and commissioning under supervision.

  • Support preliminary design reviews and assist in preparing basic cost estimates for Design and Build tenders.

  • Assist the Project Engineer and Project Manager in tracking project schedules, monitoring task progress, and coordinating daily work activities.

  • Support coordination with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure smooth site operations.

  • Assist in conducting site inspections and record progress using digital forms, photos, and checklists.

  • Update site progress data in the project management system and assist in monitoring actual versus planned progress.

  • Identify and report site issues, delays, or discrepancies to the Project Engineer or Project Manager promptly.

  • Coordinate with drafters, procurement, and internal teams to support site requirements and work sequencing.

  • Assist in preparing basic progress reports and dashboards for internal review.

  • Support project meetings by preparing updates, taking minutes, and following up on assigned action items.

  • Liaise with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to support daily site coordination.

  • Respond to routine site queries from subcontractors and consultants, escalating complex matters when required.

  • Assist in arranging and supporting site walkthroughs or inspections for clients, consultants, or management.

  • Maintain accurate project documentation including daily site reports, inspection records, drawings, and checklists.

  • Ensure documents are properly filed, tagged, and updated in accordance with company procedures.

  • Assist in preparing periodic progress updates and submission documents.

  • Support standardisation of documentation practices to improve consistency and traceability.

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering or site-based electrical works.

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

  • Basic understanding of electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, cabling, and ELV systems.

  • Familiarity with local electrical codes, authority requirements, and safety regulations.

  • Ability to support project coordination, scheduling, and site activities under supervision.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills for coordination with site teams and stakeholders.

  • Basic proficiency in AutoCAD and common project management or reporting tools.

  • Detail-oriented, willing to learn, proactive, and able to work effectively in a site environment.
