Roles & Responsibilities
The Quantity Surveyor (Electrical) is responsible for managing all commercial and contractual aspects of electrical engineering projects. The role includes cost estimation, budgeting, tender preparation, contract administration, cost control, variation management, progress claims, and final account settlement to ensure projects are delivered within budget while maintaining profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare cost estimates, Bills of Quantities (BQ), and tender submissions for electrical projects.
- Source and obtain quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure competitiveness and compliance.
- Prepare project budgets and monitor project costs throughout the project lifecycle.
- Measure quantities from construction drawings and specifications.
- Prepare and submit progress claims, payment responses, and final accounts.
- Evaluate, prepare, and negotiate variation orders (VOs).
- Monitor project expenditures and provide regular cost reports to management.
- Review contract documents and identify contractual risks and obligations.
- Assist in contract administration and ensure contractual compliance.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and project teams on commercial matters.
- Attend project meetings when required.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records relating to contracts, claims, and project costs.
- Support procurement activities for electrical materials and subcontract works.
- Assist in project close-out and final account negotiations.
- Perform any other duties assigned by management.
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Electrical Engineering, Building Services, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying for electrical or M&E projects.
- Experience in commercial, industrial, residential, or infrastructure projects will be an advantage.
