Middle Office Officer, Financial Institutions & Capital Markets

About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Middle Office Officer to support the Financial Institutions & Capital Markets (FICM) business. This role serves as a key control and coordination function between the Front Office, Operations and other internal stakeholders, ensuring accurate execution of transactions, operational efficiency, and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate will gain broad exposure across Financial Institutions business, treasury products, trade finance, custody operations, client onboarding, and operational risk management.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Institutions & Capital Markets Support
- Support client onboarding and account opening processes, including documentation review, data verification, and system setup.
- Assist in processing deposits, loans, interbank placements, secondary trade finance transactions, and other treasury-related activities.
- Support deposit pricing by preparing indicative pricing for internal stakeholders.
- Monitor daily transactions and follow up on settlement exceptions, discrepancies, and operational issues.
- Coordinate with Front Office, Operations, Compliance, Risk Management, and other internal departments to ensure smooth transaction processing.
- Prepare regular management reports, transaction reports, and ad-hoc business reports.
- Ensure operational activities comply with internal policies, procedures, and MAS regulatory requirements.
- Assist in maintaining and enhancing operational workflows, controls, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT), system enhancements, and process improvement initiatives.
Custody Operations Support
- Support custody account opening and client onboarding activities.
- Assist with day-to-day custody operations, transaction processing, and operational support.
- Monitor custody operational workflows and ensure timely execution of client instructions.
- Support operational control processes and resolve operational issues where required.
- Participate in custody-related system implementation and enhancement projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Banking, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience in banking operations, treasury operations, financial institutions, custody, trade finance, or middle office functions.
- Good understanding of banking products including deposits, loans, trade finance, treasury, or custody operations will be an advantage.
- Familiarity with MAS regulations and banking operational controls is preferred.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Good communication skills in English and Mandarin to liaise with internal and external Mandarin-speaking stakeholders.
