Accountant (Client Manager & Quality Controller)

Position Summary
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and client-focused Singapore Accountant to oversee the delivery of accounting services to our clients and coordinate a distributed accounting team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for client communication, accounting review, quality assurance, workflow management, technical guidance, and ensuring the timely delivery of accurate management accounts and financial statements.
This role will work closely with a team of accountants and accounting support staff to ensure that accounting assignments are completed efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with Singapore accounting and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities1. Client Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients on accounting matters.
- Communicate with clients regarding accounting requirements, deadlines, outstanding documents, and queries.
- Understand clients' business operations and accounting needs.
- Manage client expectations and ensure a high level of service quality.
- Identify accounting and business issues that may require further discussion or advisory support

2. Accounting Review and Quality Assurance
- Review bookkeeping and accounting work prepared by the accounting team.
- Review bank reconciliations, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and supporting schedules.
- Review management accounts and financial reports.
- Review draft unaudited financial statements.
- Identify unusual balances, inconsistencies, errors, and areas requiring further investigation.
- Ensure that financial information is accurate, complete, and properly supported.
- Ensure that deliverables comply with internal quality standards and applicable Singapore requirements.
3. Workflow and Assignment Management
- Assign accounting assignments and priorities to members of the accounting team.
- Provide clear instructions, deadlines, and expected deliverables.
- Monitor the progress of assignments through Microsoft Teams and the firm's workflow management systems.
- Track outstanding documents, queries, and review points.
- Identify potential delays or bottlenecks and take timely corrective action.
- Ensure that assignments are completed within agreed timelines.
4. Technical Accounting Support
- Provide guidance on accounting treatment and financial reporting matters.
- Review and resolve accounting issues identified during the preparation of accounts.
- Provide guidance on Singapore accounting practices, GST treatment, and financial reporting requirements.
- Escalate complex or specialist matters where appropriate.
- Assist in maintaining accounting policies, procedures, and technical guidance materials.
Educational Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Professional accounting qualifications such as ACCA, CA, or equivalent are an advantage.
Professional Experience
- Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Experience in handling full sets of accounts.
- Experience preparing or reviewing management accounts.
- Experience in preparing or reviewing unaudited financial statements.
- Experience reviewing accounting work prepared by junior team members.
- Experience working with Singapore companies and Singapore accounting practices.
Technical Skills
The candidate should have a good working knowledge of:
- Double-entry bookkeeping.
- Bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- Accruals and prepayments.
- Fixed assets and depreciation.
- Management accounts preparation.
- Financial statement preparation.
- Singapore GST principles.
- Accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
- Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
