RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the head of Centre for Case Learning Excellence (CCX), setting and overseeing strategic direction, and planning and execution of projects. Additionally, supervising staff efforts related to day-to-day activities and operations.
- Collaborate with key internal stakeholders at SMU to develop strategic goals for the Centre in line with senior management's vision. In particular, work closely with Centre for Teaching Excellence (CTE) to develop blended learning products.
- Responsible for overall quality of all CCX case studies and other projects. This also includes keeping a watch for innovation - particularly use of AI.
- Promote SMU as the ‘go-to' Centre across the globe for cases about Asian-based management practices.
- Decide and oversee the appointment of editorial board members for CCX cases.
- Develop organisational goals and financial plans (for annual budgets and projects) for the Centre.
- Negotiate revenue terms from writing proprietary cases and case writing workshops, and sale of publications. Also negotiate payment terms when using platforms like LiveCase.
- Support other Centres and schools at SMU to develop and disseminate knowledge content.
- Set standards for case writing, and develop a sustainable programme to make case method a scholarly activity in the SMU community.
- Develop a sustainable pool of top-quality internal and affiliated case writers/editors.
- Develop marketing strategies for all publications produced by the Centre.
- Ensure that all documents signed on behalf of CCX are approved by OLGA and do not expose SMU to undue risk.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Higher degree holder (preferably a Doctorate), with at least 20 years of relevant work experience in the education and corporate sectors, of which at least 10 years must be in a managerial / supervisory position.
- Deep knowledge and experience in overseeing case writing and/or professional publications.
- Strong professional networks for developing and maintaining strategic collaborations with external partners (other institutions, companies, public agencies) as well as internal stakeholders.
- Excellent customer service orientation and communication skills.
- Strong leadership skills to manage a diverse and highly qualified team of fulltime and freelance writers/editors.
