Youth Worker

Roles & Responsibilities

We are looking for a compassionate, dedicated, and proactive Youth Worker to support the well-being, personal development, and behavioural growth of primary school students. The successful candidate will work closely with school leaders, teachers, the School Discipline Team (SDT), Case Management Team (CMT), parents, and external agencies to provide pastoral care and intervention support for students.

Key Responsibilities

Student Engagement & Pastoral Care

• Build positive and trusting relationships with students, especially those identified as at-risk.

• Engage students involved in disciplinary cases, including both offenders and victims, to gather information and provide pastoral care.

• Identify early warning signs of behavioural, emotional, or social challenges and escalate concerns to relevant school personnel.

• Monitor students' well-being and support the implementation of safety and intervention plans.

• Empower students through strengths-based approaches that encourage responsibility, resilience, and self-management.

Restorative Work & Counselling Support

• Facilitate restorative conversations between students involved in conflicts or disciplinary incidents where appropriate.

• Support corrective counselling sessions to help students understand the impact of their behaviour and make positive behavioural changes.

• Work closely with the School Discipline Team (SDT), Case Management Team (CMT), teachers, and school staff to provide continuous follow-up and intervention.

• Maintain accurate case records and monitor student progress while ensuring confidentiality.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

• Attend case discussions, multidisciplinary meetings, and school support meetings.

• Collaborate with teachers, school counsellors, school leaders, parents, and external agencies to coordinate appropriate interventions.

• Liaise with REACH teams, Social Service Agencies (SSAs), and other community partners to support students with higher needs.

• Contribute to the school's student well-being and positive school culture initiatives.

• Perform other related duties assigned by the school.

Requirements

• Diploma, Degree, or Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work, Counselling, Psychology, or a related discipline.

• Minimum 1 year of post-qualification full-time social work experience in Singapore.

• At least 1 year of experience providing pastoral care, mentoring, youth work, or social work with children or youths.

• Experience in:

  • Student assessment, intervention, and monitoring.

  • Case planning and goal setting.

  • Working with schools, families, and community agencies.

• Strong interpersonal, communication, counselling, and relationship-building skills.

• Able to engage effectively with students, parents, teachers, and external stakeholders.

• Demonstrate sound judgement, professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical practice.

• Familiarity with restorative practices and case management will be an advantage.

• Passionate about supporting children's holistic development and well-being.

Working Hours

• Monday to Friday: 7:30 AM – 12:30 PM

• No work on:

  • Saturdays and Sundays

  • Gazetted Public Holidays

  • School holidays

  • Parent-Teacher Conference (PTC) days

  • Days with curtailed school hours (e.g. Teachers' Day and Children's Day celebrations)

  • Other non-schooling days as determined by the school
