Safety Officer – Job Description (LTA Project)

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Safety Manager in ensuring compliance with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH), environmental, and project safety requirements.
  • Carry out safety, health, and environmental activities to ensure all site works follow approved procedures and LTA requirements.
  • Coordinate with project teams, contractors, consultants, and relevant authorities on safety matters.
  • Prepare and submit daily safety reports and highlight any safety concerns.
  • Conduct daily site safety inspections, record observations, and follow up on corrective actions with the project team and subcontractors.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, prepare reports, and assist in implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure all workers wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow site safety rules.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with the Workplace Safety and Health Act, LTA requirements, and the project's Safety Management System.
  • Identify safety training and certification requirements and ensure workers meet the required standards.
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing Risk Assessments (RA), Safe Work Procedures (SWP), and other safety documents.
  • Support safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety campaigns to promote a safe working environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) with the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) – Mandatory.
  • Experience in preparing and implementing Risk Management plans (e.g., bizSAFE Level 2) or equivalent.
  • Good knowledge of the Workplace Safety and Health Act, subsidiary regulations, and LTA safety requirements.

Preferred Experience

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in the construction industry.
  • Preferably at least 2 years of experience on LTA projects.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with project teams and stakeholders.
