Safety Officer – Job Description (LTA Project)
Responsibilities
- Assist the Safety Manager in ensuring compliance with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH), environmental, and project safety requirements.
- Carry out safety, health, and environmental activities to ensure all site works follow approved procedures and LTA requirements.
- Coordinate with project teams, contractors, consultants, and relevant authorities on safety matters.
- Prepare and submit daily safety reports and highlight any safety concerns.
- Conduct daily site safety inspections, record observations, and follow up on corrective actions with the project team and subcontractors.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, prepare reports, and assist in implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure all workers wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow site safety rules.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with the Workplace Safety and Health Act, LTA requirements, and the project's Safety Management System.
- Identify safety training and certification requirements and ensure workers meet the required standards.
- Assist in preparing and reviewing Risk Assessments (RA), Safe Work Procedures (SWP), and other safety documents.
- Support safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety campaigns to promote a safe working environment.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) with the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) – Mandatory.
- Experience in preparing and implementing Risk Management plans (e.g., bizSAFE Level 2) or equivalent.
- Good knowledge of the Workplace Safety and Health Act, subsidiary regulations, and LTA safety requirements.
Preferred Experience
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in the construction industry.
- Preferably at least 2 years of experience on LTA projects.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with project teams and stakeholders.
