Small Animal Mobility & Wellness Centre Lead

Role Purpose
To establish and lead a preventive mobility and wellness centre for dogs and cats.
The centre will provide age-appropriate movement, strength, balance, coordination and aquatic-conditioning programmes - from early life through the senior years.
This is an opportunity to build a new preventive small-animal mobility concept from the ground up, shape its programmes and operating standards, and develop its founding mobility team.
Essential Requirements
• Degree in veterinary medicine -DVM, BVSc, BVetMed or equivalent - from an established veterinary school
• Certified Canine RehabilitationPractitioner (CCRP)
• At least five years of hands-on experience across small-animal mobility, rehabilitation and physical conditioning
• Strong practical experience with dogs and cats
• Proficiency in canine hydrotherapy, aquatic conditioning and underwater treadmill operation
• Demonstrated ability to establish operating procedures and train and lead assistant practitioners
This is a non-practising veterinary role. An active veterinary licence is not required.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan, configure and launch the mobility centre, including its equipment, operating procedures and safety standards
• Develop preventive mobility programmes for young, adult and senior dogs and cats
• Tailor each mobility programme to the animal's behaviour, temperament and motivation, so that sessions are safe, low-stress and achievable
• Work across Puppy Colours' education programmes so that behaviour and movement goals support one another
• Lead aquatic-conditioning and underwater treadmill programmes
• Establish each animal's baseline movement and fitness before participation
• Monitor comfort, behaviour and progress during programmes
• Recruit, train and supervise assistant mobility practitioners
• Educate owners on safe movement, healthy activity and suitable home exercises
• Maintain consistent standards for animal handling, hygiene, equipment use and programme delivery
• Oversee the centre's daily operations and owner experience
Preferred Experience
• Knowledge or certification in animal behaviour or ethology
• Formal canine hydrotherapy qualification
• Experience opening or managing an animal mobility, conditioning or wellness facility
• Experience designing preventive mobility programmes for different animal life stages
• Strong feline handling and mobility experience
Working Arrangements
• Shift rotation based on centre opening hours, including weekends
