About the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT)

The Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) in Singapore brings together physicists, computer scientists and engineers to do basic research on quantum physics and to build devices based on quantum phenomena. Experts in this new discipline of quantum technologies are applying their discoveries in computing, communications, and sensing.

CQT is hosted by the National University of Singapore. The Centre also has staff at the Agency for Science, Technology and Research, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and the Singapore University of Technology and Design. With some 200 staff and students, it offers a friendly and international work environment

The Research Fellow will build theoretical models to optimise the energetic cost of cat codes based quantum computers. On the fundamental side, this work will lead to deepen the understanding of the relation between hardware efficient and energy efficient, by quantifying accurately the cost of reservoir engineering at play in cat codes. On the applied side, the models will be integrated in a full-stack model of quantum processor developed in the French startup Alice&Bob, to monitor the macroscopic impact of energy savings at the quantum scale.

  • PhD in Theoretical Quantum Optics with a focus on realistic models. Experience in superconducting qubits and bosonic codes would be a major asset.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and across multiple levels of description.
  • Proven track record of research publications and presentations in relevant fields.
  • Creativity, independence, and the ability to think outside the box.
