Position: Part-Time Science Tutor

Hourly Rate: $30–$35 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications

Working Days: Weekends

Class Format: Small-group tuition, with a maximum of 6 students per class

About TutorJohn Learning Centre

TutorJohn Learning Centre is a growing tuition brand with three branches across Singapore—two in Choa Chu Kang and one in Tampines.

We provide English, Mathematics, Science and Chinese lessons for Primary and Secondary students.

As our team expands, we are looking for passionate student tutors and graduate tutors who are interested in gaining teaching experience and growing in the education field.

Current Open Assignments

Sec 4 NT (G1) Science

- Location: Tampines Street 81

- Date & Time: Saturdays, 1–3 PM

- Notes: 1-to-1

- $30-35/ hour

Sec 1 G2/G3 Science

- Location: Teck Whye Lane

- Date & Time: Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30 PM

- Notes: 1 G2 Student & 1 G3 Student

- $30-35/ hour

Requirements:

• Able to commit until the end of the academic year
• Comfortable teaching Lower Secondary Science, including Physics, Chemistry and Biology
• Prior teaching experience required

Key Responsibilities

Conduct Engaging Science Lessons

• Teach Primary and/or Secondary Science

• Deliver structured lessons aligned with the MOE syllabus

• Explain scientific concepts using clear and relatable examples

• Guide students in answering structured and application-based questions

Support Student Progress

• Identify misconceptions and learning gaps

• Help students improve their scientific understanding and answering techniques

• Monitor students’ progress and provide feedback when required

Support Centre Operations

• Assist with marking and preparing lesson materials

• Complete simple class-related administrative duties

• Help maintain smooth and organised class operations

Who We Are Looking For

Student tutor, undergraduate or graduate tutor

Strong academic foundation in Science

Familiarity with the Singapore MOE Science syllabus

Patient, responsible and comfortable working with children

Able to explain scientific concepts clearly

Able to commit consistently on at least one weekend day per week
