About the Team

The NUS Academy for Healthy Longevity operates as a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary research team led by Prof Andrea B. Maier. Each research project is structured with a Research Fellow as the scientific lead, supported by a Head of Research Operations who works closely with you on day-to-day research activities, and a Research Assistant to support execution. As a Research Fellow, you will lead your primary research project while also contributing your domain expertise to other ongoing studies where relevant. The broader team includes a Head of Partnerships, a procurement specialist, and a communications lead who support the team across institutional relationships, operational logistics, and scientific visibility.

About the Role

The NUS Academy for Healthy Longevity seeks a Research Fellow (post-doc) with expertise in drug or intervention clinical trials. The successful candidate will lead the design, execution, and reporting of interventional clinical trials testing gerotherapeutics, including repurposed drugs, nutraceuticals, and lifestyle interventions, in human populations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the full lifecycle of randomised controlled trials targeting biological ageing, from protocol design through to IRB and ethics submissions, data collection, analysis, and publication
• Design and refine trial protocols including eligibility criteria, primary and secondary outcomes, blinding procedures, and statistical analysis plans with a focus on repurposed drugs and novel gerotherapeutics
• Oversee day-to-day trial operations including participant recruitment and management, protocol compliance, adverse event reporting, and regulatory submissions to the Institutional Review Board and ethics committees
• Evaluate and introduce innovative outcome measures including biological age clocks, organ-specific ageing biomarkers, and digital health endpoints as trial outcomes
• Manage relationships with industry sponsors, contract research organisations, and regulatory authorities
• Contribute to the development of international standards and networks for gerotherapeutic clinical trials
• Lead and contribute to scientific publications and grant applications in clinical trial methodology and intervention science in ageing
• Supervise clinical research staff, coordinators, and students embedded in the trial team

Qualifications

• MD, PhD, or equivalent in Medicine, Clinical Pharmacology, or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of experience in clinical trial design and execution, including drug or intervention trials in human participants, with specific experience in repurposed drugs strongly valued
• Solid understanding of GCP, ICH guidelines, IRB and ethics submission processes, and regulatory requirements for clinical research
• Experience with clinical trial platforms such as IQVIA, REDCap, or equivalent
• Proficiency in data analysis tools including R, SPSS, Python, Stata, or equivalent
• Scientific writing is a core requirement: the candidate must have demonstrated experience leading the writing and submission of peer-reviewed manuscripts
• Publication record in clinical trials or intervention science
• Interest in gerotherapeutics and the biology of human ageing; experience in ageing research is an advantage
