Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute the company's business strategy, growth plans, and annual budgets
  • Identify new market opportunities, service lines, and partnerships to expand the lab's testing portfolio
  • Represent the company at industry events, client meetings, and with regulatory bodies

Operations Management

  • Oversee day-to-day laboratory and business operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and turnaround time targets are met
  • Ensure continued compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation and other relevant regulatory/quality standards
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including adoption of new technologies, automation, and digital systems

Financial Management

  • Own P&L responsibility, including revenue growth, cost management, and profitability
  • Review financial performance regularly and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Approve budgets, capital expenditure, and pricing strategies

People Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the technical, operations, and support teams (lab scientists, technical director, admin/sales staff)
  • Build a strong performance culture, and oversee recruitment, training, and succession planning
  • Foster a safe, collaborative, and high-integrity workplace culture

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Maintain and grow relationships with key clients, including SMEs and multinational accounts
  • Ensure high standards of customer service and responsiveness
  • Liaise with accreditation bodies, government agencies, and industry associations

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Science (Microbiology, Food Science, Chemistry, or related field); an MBA or business qualification is an advantage
  • Minimum 8–10 years of relevant experience, with at least 3–5 years in a senior management or leadership role, ideally within testing laboratories, food safety, life sciences, or related technical/regulated industries
  • Strong understanding of ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation requirements and laboratory quality systems
  • Proven track record in P&L management, business development, and operational leadership
  • Strong people management skills with experience leading technical and cross-functional teams
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation skills
