Senior Executive – Chemistry Teaching Laboratory [West / 6-mths]

We are looking for a

Senior Executive

to support the daily operations of an Undergraduate Chemistry Teaching Laboratory. The incumbent will work closely with the laboratory management team to support teaching activities, laboratory equipment, safety, inventory and general administration.

• Duration: 6 months (Maternity Cover)
• Location: West
• Salary: Up to $4,200 per month

Key Responsibilities

• Support daily laboratory operations, preparation, housekeeping and equipment maintenance for undergraduate and graduate laboratory modules.
• Prepare chemical reagents, solvents, glassware and laboratory apparatus for Year 1 to Year 3 chemistry practical classes.
• Provide technical support to faculty members, teaching assistants and students during laboratory sessions.
• Monitor and account for the submission of 200+ laboratory reports weekly through the online submission system.
• Support the tracking and processing of monthly Teaching Assistant claims.
• Implement and enforce laboratory safety protocols, including the safe handling of equipment, hazardous chemicals and solvents.
• Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting of analytical instruments, including AAS, UV-Vis, FTIR, Polarimeter, LC, GC, LCMS/GCMS, ICP-OES and GPC.
• Provide basic equipment operation and software training to new users, Teaching Assistants and students.
• Coordinate with external vendors and engineers for equipment servicing, maintenance and repairs.
• Handle procurement of laboratory consumables, chemicals, solvents and glassware.
• Support consumables inventory planning, tracking and equipment asset checks.
• Perform other laboratory operational and administrative duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Diploma in Chemistry or a related discipline.
• Preferably 2–3 years of relevant experience in an instrument laboratory or tertiary-level teaching laboratory.
• Experience handling analytical instruments such as AAS, UV-Vis, FTIR, LC/GC, LCMS/GCMS or ICP-OES will be advantageous.
• Knowledge of chemical and solvent storage requirements, hazardous substances regulations and laboratory safety.
