Job Summary and Responsibilities
We are seeking a motivated and friendly Food Services Assistant to join our hardworking team at a major international school canteen. In this role, you will help to deliver the daily snack and lunch services, take payments via our cashless POS, and assist students and teachers - as well as assisting with events and banqueting.
A full-time position in this role is for 44 hours a week, Monday to Friday (+ weekends when required). If you cannot commit to the full-time hours, we may be able to offer permanent part-time hours, so long as you are able to be at work between 10am-2pm on weekdays.
During major school holiday periods, we usually are able to offer work at one of our other schools, but please note that you may be asked to take extended leave if no holiday work is available.
Key Tasks
- Assist with packing and plating of food items into bento boxes or onto plates.
- Operate the cashless POS system (student payments are made from their personal ID card).
- Assist the kitchen team with handling cold and hot food from kitchen to serving areas safely and efficiently.
- Assist with replenishing and arranging food, drinks, packaging, cutlery to their assigned shelves/fridges.
- Assist with event setup, serving and clearing - when required.
- Ensure that utensils and serving ware are cleaned/ sanitised and ready for use & serve food.
- Clean/ sanitise work stations, assist with clearing rubbish and moving soiled dishes and cutlery for dishwashing.
- Monitor temperature of warmer cart cabinets & beverage chillers and report any maintenance and repair.
Skills and Knowledge
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience in catering/cafeteria operations in any setting
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene
- Knowledge of Food Allergens
- Able and willing to lift heavy items occasionally
Qualifications
- WSQ Food Safety and Hygiene Level 1 (minimum)
- Willing and able to pass a mandatory criminal background check
