Design Manager (Electrical)

Location: Macpherson

• Monday - Friday: 8.30am - 6pm, Saturday (depending on project requirement)

A well-established Singapore-based M&E engineering and project management company providing integrated electrical, mechanical and building engineering solutions for major commercial, industrial, institutional and infrastructure developments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage electrical design development from concept stage through construction, testing and project completion.

• Review contract specifications, design requirements, technical drawings and project documentation to ensure compliance.

• Ensure all electrical designs comply with Singapore codes, statutory requirements, authority regulations and project specifications.

• Coordinate with architects, consultants, main contractors, project managers and other engineering disciplines to resolve design and technical issues.

• Review electrical engineering calculations, design drawings, shop drawings, technical submissions and material specifications.

• Prepare and manage submissions to relevant Singapore authorities and regulatory bodies, ensuring timely approvals.

• Provide technical guidance to project engineers, BIM teams, designers and subcontractors throughout project execution.

• Coordinate electrical interfaces with mechanical, ACMV, fire protection, plumbing, architectural and structural works.

• Review and manage design changes, RFIs, technical queries, variations and design-related submissions.

• Lead design review meetings with clients, consultants and contractors to address technical issues and obtain approvals.

• Work closely with BIM teams to ensure accurate modelling, clash coordination and multidisciplinary design integration.

• Provide technical support during installation, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting activities.

• Ensure design deliverables, as-built drawings and technical documentation are completed accurately and within project timelines.

• Identify design risks, constructability issues and opportunities for value engineering.

• Mentor and provide technical guidance to design engineers and other technical team members.

• Ensure design activities are aligned with project schedules, budgets, quality and safety requirements.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

• Minimum 8 years of relevant Electrical Design and M&E project experience, preferably with prior Design Manager or senior design experience.

• Strong electrical engineering background with proven experience in building services or multidisciplinary M&E projects.

• Singapore working experience is mandatory, with strong knowledge of Singapore authority requirements, codes and statutory regulations.

• Experience handling authority submissions and approvals for electrical engineering projects.

• Experience with large-scale commercial, industrial, institutional, infrastructure or complex building projects.

• Strong knowledge of Singapore electrical standards, codes and regulatory requirements.

• Proficient in reading and reviewing electrical drawings, specifications, calculations and technical documentation.

• Experience coordinating with consultants, main contractors, subcontractors, clients and relevant authorities.

• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit/BIM and other relevant electrical design software.

• Strong understanding of BIM coordination and multidisciplinary clash detection will be an advantage.

• Good knowledge of design development, technical submissions, shop drawings and construction coordination.

• Strong leadership, communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.

• Able to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines effectively.

• Independent, proactive and hands-on with strong attention to detail.

• Candidates must specialise in Electrical Engineering and have solid knowledge of Singapore authority requirements and submission processes.
