Lead Formulation Scientist – Sun Care / Sunscreen

• Remuneration Package: Up to $7000 + AWS + Variable Bonus

Working Location: West near MRT Station

• Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm

Our client, a leading global specialty chemicals organisation, is seeking an experienced formulation scientist to strengthen its regional Skin and Sun Care capabilities. The successful candidate will lead application projects, develop sunscreen formulations and provide technical expertise to customers and commercial teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead new product development (NPD), existing product development (EPD) and Open Innovation projects.

• Develop, formulate and troubleshoot skin care and sunscreen products.

• Design and conduct laboratory experiments, analyse results and determine appropriate development approaches.

• Work with both organic and inorganic UV-filter systems.

• Conduct or support application testing, including in-vitro SPF measurements, corneometer and TEWL testing.

• Manage multiple formulation projects independently and deliver technical outcomes within agreed timelines.

• Provide technical support to sales and marketing teams, including responding to enquiries, recommending ingredients and supporting product launches.

• Work directly with customers to assess, develop and optimise formulations.

• Prepare clear scientific reports, technical presentations and customer-relevant recommendations.

• Collaborate with regional and global teams, external partners and internal stakeholders on innovation projects.

Key Requirements

• Degree in Chemistry, Biological Chemistry, Cosmetic Science or a related discipline; Master’s degree or PhD preferred.

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in sun care formulation and application testing.

• Hands-on experience formulating and troubleshooting sunscreen products is mandatory.

• Practical experience with both organic and inorganic UV filters is mandatory.

• Strong understanding of sun care ingredients, product performance and the sunscreen market.

• Proven experience leading NPD, EPD or Open Innovation projects.

• Strong experimental, analytical, problem-solving and project-management capabilities.

• Experience working directly with customersand supporting commercial or marketing teams.

• Excellent scientific-report writing, presentation and stakeholder-management skills.

• Able to manage changing priorities and multiple projects independently.
