Science Lab Assistant - Sengkang
GAIN EMPLOYMENT SERVICES PTE. LTD.
Contract Period: From 1 Jan 2027 to 31 Dec 2027 with an option to extend the Contract for a further period of 1 year
· Mondays to Thursdays: 7:30am to 4.45pm, inclusive of 1hr lunch break
· Fridays: 7:30am to 4:15pm, inclusive of 1hr lunch break
· Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays
Science
• Prepare experimental setups for all lab activities and trial the experiments and modify the experiments, when required, prior to the Science curriculum/enrichment lessons and Science CCA.
• Prepare additional apparatus for teachers who wish to carry out additional Science activities and be on hand to help out during Science Workshops conducted by the school.
• Assist with the purchase of materials required for experiments for both Science curriculum lessons/enrichment and Science CCA in alignment with budget requirements.
• Ensure and maintain the cleanliness of the two Science Labs.
• Conduct stock-taking of all apparatus and resources belonging to the Science department at least twice a year.
• Maintain a logbook for entry of classes into and out of the Science labs.
• Maintain a logbook for entry of any broken/condemnation of apparatus and chemicals for the Science labs.
• Preparation of the Outdoor and Indoor Hydroponics/Urban Farming Facility for planting and harvesting followed by cleaning of the facility in preparation for the next harvest.
• Monitoring of the Science Ecological Gardens and assist in replacement of plants where required.
• Maintenance of the Laboratory Aquariums (which includes the change of water and assists in replacement of plants and livestock where required).
Makerspace
• Prepare materials and tools required for makerspace recess activities and workshops
• Manage and maintain makerspace equipment, including 3D printers, digital cutters and other tools.
• Provide technical support and assistance to makerspace users regarding equipment operation and troubleshooting.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment within the makerspace.
Others
• Support in miscellaneous administrative school matters required by the HOD/LH Science/School Admin.
• May also be deployed to help other departments in the school or school events/activities, should the need arise.
Qualifications, skills and experience:
• An ‘O’ Level qualification and basic knowledge of IT applications (e.g. MS Word and Excel).
• Must be proficient in English.
• Able to multi-task and able to handle a fast-paced environment.
• Preferably at least 3years of working experience in a school environment and have some basic knowledge of laboratory, chemicals and apparatus.
•Candidates without relevant school experience but who possess comparable skills and qualifications will also be considered.
