Business Analyst - Data Governance

Responsibilities

  • Identify and define Critical Data Elements (CDEs) based on regulatory reporting and business requirements.
  • Develop and maintain data flow diagrams, data dictionaries, metadata, and end-to-end data lineage across source, transformation, and reporting layers.
  • Map data elements from source systems to regulatory and management reporting requirements, ensuring consistent data definitions and business rules.
  • Collaborate with business users, reporting teams, IT, and vendors to gather requirements and validate data governance processes.
  • Assess data quality issues across completeness, accuracy, consistency, and granularity, and recommend remediation initiatives and controls.
  • Define and enhance data quality controls, including validation, reconciliation, exception management, and monitoring processes.
  • Conduct BCBS239/RDARR assessments, data governance reviews, and gap assessments, supporting regulatory compliance and remediation initiatives.
  • Support regulatory reviews, audits, and governance assessments through documentation, evidence preparation, KPI tracking, and management reporting.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in Data Governance or Data Management, preferably within Banking or Financial Services.
  • Strong understanding of banking operations, regulatory reporting, risk management, and data governance requirements.Strong expertise in BCBS239, Risk Data Aggregation and Risk Reporting (RDARR) and data governance frameworks.
  • Proven experience in data lineage, data dictionaries, metadata management, data quality frameworks, and regulatory reporting data analysis.
  • Experience conducting BCBS239 assessments, control reviews, regulatory compliance reviews, or remediation programmes.
  • Strong analytical and logical thinking skills, with the ability to trace how reporting data is sourced, transformed, and consumed.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work across business, IT, reporting teams, and external vendors.
  • Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical governance controls, processes, and implementation roadmaps.
  • Experience with Collibra, Informatica, or other data governance tools is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of MAS reporting requirements and banking data structures is preferred.
  • Prior experience in financial data governance or enterprise data management initiatives is an advantage.
