Retail Assistant manager
TWIGLY'S PTE. LTD.
Company: Twigly’s Pte. Ltd.
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: S$6,600 – S$7,200 per month
Working Hours: 44 contractual hours per week, rostered according to operational requirements
Location: Multiple Twigly’s retail outlets in Singapore
Role Overview
Twigly’s is seeking an experienced and highly hands-on Retail Operations Manager to take direct responsibility for the day-to-day performance of multiple retail outlets.
This is not a desk-based management position. The successful candidate will spend substantial working time physically inside the stores, supervising employees, resolving operational issues and participating directly in frontline activities when required.
The role requires regular travel between outlets. A typical working day may involve approximately 4 hours at one store followed by travel and approximately 4 hours at another store, with applicable breaks incorporated into the roster.
As our operating hours may progressively extend towards 24-hour operations, candidates must be comfortable with rotating schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays when rostered.
Key Responsibilities
Manage daily operations across multiple Twigly’s outlets.
Travel between stores and conduct opening, operational and closing inspections.
Manage staff rosters, attendance, punctuality, leave and manpower deployment.
Arrange operational coverage when employees are unavailable due to medical leave, annual leave, emergency leave or unexpected absenteeism.
Personally provide frontline operational support during manpower shortages where reasonably required.
Supervise and, when necessary, personally perform cashier/POS operations, customer service, stock replenishment, goods receiving, merchandising, stocktaking and expiry checks.
Monitor inventory accuracy, FIFO/FEFO, wastage, shrinkage and stock availability.
Conduct cash reconciliation and investigate discrepancies.
Monitor store cleanliness, housekeeping, equipment and overall operational readiness.
Coordinate suppliers, deliveries, maintenance and promotional activities.
Train, supervise and evaluate frontline employees.
Resolve customer complaints and operational incidents.
Monitor sales, manpower productivity and store performance.
Identify operational problems independently and implement corrective actions.
A managerial designation does not exempt the successful candidate from frontline store duties.
Qualifications & Experience
Recognised Bachelor’s Degree.
A Master’s in Management, Engineering Management, Operations Management, Business Administration (MBA), Supply Chain Management or related management discipline is strongly preferred.
Preferably 5 years or more of relevant professional experience in retail, FMCG, hospitality, logistics, supply chain or another operationally intensive environment.
Preferably 2–3 years of supervisory, managerial, project-management or operational leadership experience.
Multi-site or multi-outlet operational experience is strongly advantageous.
Experience in manpower planning, shift-based operations, inventory management, POS/cash management, operational reporting and process improvement is preferred.
Strong numerical, analytical, problem-solving and people-management capabilities.
Comfortable using POS, inventory, rostering and spreadsheet systems.
Operational & Working Requirements
Candidates must be comfortable with:
44 contractual working hours per week on a rostered basis.
Working across Monday to Sunday, including weekends and public holidays when rostered.
Early-morning or evening schedules where operationally required.
Potential changes in working patterns as stores move towards extended or 24-hour operations.
Frequent travel between multiple retail outlets during the same working day.
Regular standing, walking and movement throughout retail and stock areas.
Direct involvement in frontline store operations.
Responding to unexpected manpower and operational situations.
Taking independent responsibility for store performance and operational continuity.
Applicable rest days, leave entitlements and other employment conditions will be provided in accordance with the employment contract and applicable Singapore employment requirements.
Candidate Profile
This role is suited to a disciplined, dependable and operationally hands-on manager who can combine management capability, analytical thinking and direct shop-floor leadership.
Candidates primarily seeking a desk-based position, fixed Monday-to-Friday office hours, permanent assignment to one outlet or a management role without frontline operational responsibilities may not find this position suitable.
Only candidates genuinely comfortable with the demanding, hands-on, multi-outlet and roster-based nature of this position are encouraged to apply.
Twigly’s Pte. Ltd. is committed to fair and merit-based employment practices. Applications will be assessed based on the genuine requirements of the position, relevant qualifications, competencies, professional experience and overall suitability.
