Research Fellow in bacteriophage Genome Engineering
The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Fellow position in the Synthetic Biology Translational Research Programme, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Julius Fredens.
Purpose of the post
The Research Fellow will be a part of the Fredens Lab. The work will focus on genome engineering in bacteriophages.
Main duties and responsibilities
1) Manage and drive the research projects, design and execute experiments, assimilate and interpret results;
(2) Solve scientific problems, think independently, and suggest creative solutions;
(3) Write papers together with the PI for publication in high-impact journals;
(4) Take part in usual lab duties.
Qualifications
The applicant should:
- Hold a PhD degree in molecular biology, biotechnology, bioengineering, medicine, or a related field;
- Have hands-on experience conducting research in molecular biology. Research experience with bacteriophages and genome engineering is highly favourable;
- Be able to work independently and in a team, have an investigative nature, and be attentive to details;
- Be passionate about science, self-motivated, naturally take ownership of assignments, and proactively propose solutions to arising obstacles.
