Senior Social Worker/Counsellor/Clinical Psychologist (Flourishing Minds)

As a Senior Allied Health Professional and Portfolio Lead for Clinical Excellence, you will lead the Clinical Circle and provide direction for safe, high-quality, evidence-based Tier 2 and Tier 3 mental health services. You will be accountable for strengthening clinical governance, risk management, care pathways, practice standards, service quality and outcomes across Flourishing Minds.

You will combine portfolio leadership with senior clinical practice. This includes supporting youth and families with complex needs, providing clinical supervision and consultation, developing workforce capability and ensuring that care is trauma-informed, person-centred, family-oriented, recovery-focused and responsive to lived experience. You will work across portfolios and with external partners to ensure timely access, coordinated care and safe transitions between services.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Excellence Portfolio Leadership

• Lead the Clinical Excellence portfolio and Clinical Circle, translating strategic direction into clear priorities, annual workplans and accountable delivery.

• Oversee the design, implementation and continuous improvement of Tier 2 and Tier 3 services, including psychosocial and psychological interventions and case management.

• Ensure clinical services are aligned with FM’s core principles, current evidence, professional standards, community needs and the lived experiences of youth and families.

• Strengthen referral, triage, care-coordination and transition pathways so that youth receive timely, appropriate and coordinated support.

• Use service data, clinical outcomes, incidents, feedback and emerging evidence to identify priorities and guide quality improvement.

• Ensure service-level compliance with ethical, legal, professional, data-protection and organisational requirements.

• Monitor caseload, case complexity, service capacity and workforce risks, escalating systemic concerns that may affect safety, quality or outcomes.

• Oversee clinical reporting and ensure timely, accurate submissions in accordance with organisational and funding requirements.

• Coordinate with the Growth, Community and General Circles so that clinical services connect coherently with developmental, community and centre-wide functions.

Clinical Supervision and Workforce Development

• Provide clinical supervision, consultation and case-review leadership to practitioners from relevant disciplines.

• Develop staff capability in trauma-informed, person-centred, family-oriented, recovery-focused and evidence-based practice.

• Establish clear expectations for clinical practice, documentation, risk management and professional accountability.

• Identify learning and competency needs, coordinate capability-building activities and support continuing professional development.

• Foster reflective practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, psychological safety and sustainable professional practice.

• Monitor practice quality and address capability, conduct or performance concerns through appropriate organisational processes.

Partnerships and Service Interface

• Build and maintain effective working relationships with referral partners, healthcare providers, schools, funders and other stakeholders relevant to clinical service delivery.
• Represent FM in clinical and service-development discussions, contributing practice insights while remaining within approved organisational positions and authority.
• Engage youth and family advisors in reviewing clinical pathways, protocols and service experiences, with appropriate safeguards and role clarity.

Senior Clinical Practice

• Manage an appropriate clinical caseload as a Senior Practitioner, including youth presenting with greater risk or complexity.

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, case formulation and collaborative care planning with youth and families.

• Provide psychosocial and psychological interventions, including counselling, psychoeducation, caregiver support and casework management.

• Assess and manage clinical risk, develop safety plans and escalate concerns in accordance with organisational protocols.

• Coordinate care with families, schools, healthcare providers and other services, including transitions into, between and out of services.

• Participate in case reviews and clinical supervision, and contribute senior-practice perspectives to clinical decisions and service improvement.

• Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation and comply with ethical, legal, funding and organisational requirements.

Qualifications

• Degree or post-graduate diploma in social work, counselling or clinical mental health/ Masters in clinical psychology

• Minimum six years of direct work experience with youth and families of which three years of clinical experience with youth and/or youth mental health.

• Demonstrated experience in clinical assessment, formulation, intervention, risk management and care coordination.

• Experience providing clinical supervision, consultation or practice leadership to multidisciplinary practitioners.

• Experience developing or improving clinical services, protocols, workflows or quality systems.
