Job Summary
A Construction Site Foreman supervises workers and subcontractors to ensure daily construction work is completed safely, accurately, and on schedule. They act as the key link between workers and site management to maintain smooth site operations.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate construction workers and subcontractors to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely
- Assign daily tasks to workers and monitor their productivity to meet project timelines
- Verify construction activities follow approved drawings, specifications, and instructions to maintain quality standards
- Monitor daily site progress and report updates to the Site Supervisor or Project Manager for informed decision-making
- Coordinate manpower, materials, tools, and equipment to support daily construction activities without delays
- Inspect completed work for quality and arrange rectifications promptly when necessary
- Enforce site safety rules, PPE requirements, and safe work procedures to maintain a safe working environment
- Conduct or assist with toolbox meetings and daily work briefings to communicate work plans and safety measures
- Coordinate different trades to prevent work clashes and avoid project delays
- Identify site problems and promptly inform the Site Supervisor or Engineer for resolution
- Check material deliveries and ensure proper storage to prevent damage or loss
- Maintain good housekeeping and safe working conditions on site to promote efficiency and safety
- Assist engineers and supervisors during site inspections to ensure compliance with project requirements
- Keep accurate records of manpower, work progress, materials, and site activities for reporting and tracking
- Ensure all work is completed according to the required schedule to meet project deadlines
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Secondary education, technical certificate, Nitec/Higher Nitec, or construction-related qualification depending on the employer
- 10-15 years or more of construction experience; supervisory experience is an advantage
- Strong knowledge of construction site operations and work methods to manage site activities effectively
- Ability to supervise and motivate workers to maintain productivity and morale
- Ability to understand basic construction drawings and work instructions for accurate task execution
- Good knowledge of construction materials, tools, and equipment to support site operations
- Basic understanding of workplace safety requirements to enforce compliance
- Good communication and coordination skills to liaise with workers and management
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors to meet job demands
- Able to work overtime when required by the project schedule
- Relevant Singapore construction safety training/certifications may be required depending on the project
