Workplace Safety and Health Coordinator (WSHC)

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced WSH Coordinator to support our tunnelling project. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining workplace safety and health standards at the project site, ensuring compliance with applicable Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) legislation, LTA requirements, and project safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and enforce Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) policies, procedures, and safe work practices at the project site.
- Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with the WSH Act, subsidiary legislation, LTA requirements, and project-specific safety procedures.
- Conduct regular site safety inspections, safety observations, and daily safety checks, particularly for tunnelling and construction activities.
- Identify potential hazards and unsafe work practices and recommend appropriate control measures.
- Follow up on safety observations, non-conformities, and corrective actions to ensure timely close-out.
- Assist in the implementation and monitoring of Risk Assessments, Safe Work Procedures, Permit-to-Work systems, and other safety programmes.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, observations, incidents, toolbox meetings, permits, and other WSH documentation.
- Assist in conducting toolbox meetings, safety briefings, site inductions, and safety campaigns.
- Support the investigation and reporting of accidents, incidents, near misses, and dangerous occurrences.
- Liaise with site management, engineers, supervisors, workers, and relevant stakeholders on WSH matters.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all personnel comply with established safety requirements.
- Assist with WSH audits, inspections, and other regulatory requirements as required.
Requirements
- Advanced Certificate in Workplace Safety and Health (ACWSH) or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant WSH experience in tunnelling or underground construction works.
- Prior experience working on LTA projects is strongly preferred.
- Good working knowledge of the Workplace Safety and Health Act, regulations, and construction safety requirements.
- Familiarity with tunnelling activities, construction hazards, and associated risk control measures.
- Strong site presence with the ability to identify safety risks and implement effective corrective actions.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work independently as well as coordinate effectively with project teams.
- Willing to work on a 6-day work week and be stationed at the project site.
