Student Guidance Support Officer (Secondary School)

We are seeking a patient, firm, and warm Student Guidance Support Officer (SGSO) to work closely with school leaders and the Student Development team to maintain a safe, respectful learning environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Immediate Support: Act as the first responder for student management incidents. Calmly de-escalate safety or behavioral issues and support teachers with peer-relationship matters.
  • Corrective Discipline: Lead fact-finding investigations for misconduct or bullying using school guidelines. Recommend and monitor fair disciplinary consequences (e.g., detention, corrective work, suspensions).
  • Intervention & Outreach: Partner with teachers to perform home visits assessing risky behaviors. Conduct regular neighborhood patrols and run restorative school programs (GEAR UP, Special Education Needs).
  • Stakeholder & External Collaboration: Engage parents on disciplinary trends and restorative action. Coordinate case efforts with external agencies like the Singapore Police Force, FSCs, and MSF.
  • Administration: Review CCTV footage, conduct student interviews, log comprehensive case files, and maintain intranet records to track intervention history.

Working Hours & Schedule

  • Shifts: Mondays to Fridays, 8:30am to 5:30pm (includes a 45-minute lunch break).
  • Rest Days: Off on Saturdays, Sundays, and all gazetted Public Holidays.
  • School Holiday Gap: No duties or salary payments apply during the months of June and December.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Diploma or higher degree in Counseling, Educational Psychology, Social Work, or a related behavioral science field.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience working with youth, specifically managing social-emotional struggles or learning difficulties within a school setup.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional conflict resolution, stellar interpersonal communication, and the capacity to remain completely calm under pressure.
  • IT Skills: Competent in everyday professional computer applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
