Senior Software Engineer (React/Java/AWS)

Location: West

Job Type: Full-Time Contract (Renewable basis)

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable full-stack applications in a government environment.
• Develop backend services using Kotlin, Java and Spring Boot.
• Build frontend applications using Svelte, React or Vue.
• Design and integrate REST APIs, GraphQL, microservices and event-driven systems.
• Deploy and support applications on AWS, including ECS, Kubernetes and Lambda.
• Build and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Manage infrastructure using AWS CDK, Terraform or OpenTofu.
• Implement application security controls and ensure compliance with government security requirements.
• Support system modernisation, integration and legacy application environments.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of full-stack software engineering experience.
• Strong experience with AWS, Kotlin/Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience with Svelte, React or Vue.
• Hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code would be advantageous
• Good understanding of REST APIs, GraphQL, microservices, SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with authentication, authorisation, encryption and audit logging.
• Familiarity with security, regulatory or government compliance requirements.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.
