Resident Engineer / Resident Technical Officer (Civil & Structural)

The Role

The Resident Engineer (RE) / Resident Technical Officer (RTO) will be responsible for providing site supervision and technical support for civil and structural construction projects in Singapore.

The role will work closely with the Professional Engineer, consultants, contractors and other project stakeholders to ensure that construction works are carried out in accordance with the approved drawings, specifications, contract requirements and relevant Singapore standards and regulations.

The role will involve regular site inspections, monitoring of construction progress and workmanship, coordination with contractors, and maintaining proper site records and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor civil and structural construction works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications and project requirements;
• Carry out regular site inspections and identify any defects, non-conformities or issues requiring rectification;
• Coordinate with the Professional Engineer, consultants, contractors and other project stakeholders on site matters;
• Monitor the progress of construction works and highlight any delays, technical issues or potential problems to the project team;
• Review contractors' method statements, shopdrawings, material submissions and other relevant technical documents where required;
• Verify that materials and workmanship comply with the approved specifications and relevant standards;
• Assist in resolving technical and construction issues encountered on site;
• Maintain proper records of site activities, inspections, site meetings, instructions, defects and other relevant documentation;
• Attend site meetings and assist with the preparation of site reports and progress updates;
• Monitor and follow up on rectification works and ensure that outstanding defects are properly addressed;
• Coordinate with relevant parties for inspections, testing and other site activities;
• Ensure that works are carried out in accordance with applicable Singapore Codes of Practice, regulations and statutory requirements; and
• Other ad hoc duties as required

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Civil / Structural Engineering from a recognised institution;
• Relevant experience in civil and structural construction, site supervision or consultancy will be an advantage;
• Good understanding of civil and structural construction methods, drawings and specifications;
• Knowledge of relevant Singapore Codes of Practice and construction requirements would be an advantage;
• Able to read and interpret structural and civil engineering drawings;
• Good communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work with consultants, contractors and other project stakeholders;
• Proactive, responsible and able to work independently on site;
• Candidates with IES/ACES accreditation or relevant RTO/RE qualifications will have an advantage;
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant engineering software would be an advantage;
• Candidates with relevant site experience are preferred. Fresh graduates may be considered for RTO positions, subject to the project's requirements

Working Hours

5.5-day work week, Monday – Saturday

Monday – Friday: 9.00am to 6.00pm

Saturday: 9.00am to 1.00pm

Office located at B-Central / 5-minute walk from Boon Keng MRT
