Business Development Director

Job Responsibilities
Reporting to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will lead the Business Development Division and be responsible for the following:
- Oversee the overall activities and performance of the Business Development Division.
- Develop, implement and review corporate objectives, policies and business-development strategies for the organisation’s industrial automation products.
- Identify new business opportunities, markets, customer segments and strategic partnerships to support sustainable business growth.
- Develop and execute sales strategies and targets for the company’s e-commerce business model.
- Drive sales revenue through effective sales planning, inventory management and coordination of technical support for customers.
- Analyse market trends, customer needs, competitor activities and business performance to support strategic decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to improve business processes and implement systems to enhance organisational effectiveness and productivity.
- Lead and manage the division to achieve the company’s business objectives, sales targets and project deadlines.
- Prepare and manage budgets, business plans, schedules, performance reports and other management reports.
- Communicate and coordinate regularly with Japan headquarters, including conducting meetings and preparing or reviewing business correspondence and management reports in Japanese and English.
- Support the Managing Director in other aspects of managing the company, as required.
- Degree in Business, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- At least 12 years of relevant experience in business development, sales or commercial management within the industrial automation industry.
- At least five years of senior-management experience, including responsibility for strategic planning, business development, sales management, budgeting and team leadership.
- Experience working with a Japan-based headquarters or Japanese-speaking regional stakeholders.
- Business-level proficiency in spoken and written Japanese, equivalent to JLPT N1, and proficiency in English. Japanese proficiency is required for regular meetings, correspondence, reporting and coordination with Japan headquarters.
- Strong understanding of B2B sales, e-commerce, inventory management and customer technical-support operations.
- Possess a growth-oriented and strategic mindset, with the ability to identify and develop new business opportunities.
- Strong analytical and financial acumen, with attention to business data, sales performance and market indicators.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Experience using Tableau and Salesforce would be advantageous.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder-management and project-management capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
