We are looking for a passionate, responsible and capable Part-Time / Freelance English Teacher & Curriculum Developer to join our team.

This is a dual-role position combining physical classroom teaching with English curriculum development. The successful candidate must be comfortable teaching students at our Marine Parade centre while contributing to the development and improvement of our English curriculum and learning resources.

This is not a fully remote curriculum-development position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

English Language Teaching

• Conduct engaging and effective on-site English Language lessons for Primary 1 to Primary 6 students

• Deliver lessons aligned with the Singapore MOE Primary English Language syllabus and learning objectives

• Support students in key areas including grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, writing, oral communication and examination preparation

• Build students' confidence in reading, writing, speaking and communicating effectively in English

• Develop students' critical thinking, comprehension and written-expression skills

• Adapt teaching approaches according to students' learning abilities and individual needs

• Monitor students' progress and provide constructive feedback

• Maintain a positive, encouraging and well-managed classroom environment

• Provide parents with appropriate updates on students' learning progress when required

• Conduct student assessments and trial classes when assigned

ENGLISH CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT

• Develop and enhance P1–P6 English Language curriculum and teaching materials

• Plan learning objectives, lesson progression and appropriate levels of difficulty

• Create structured lesson plans, worksheets, practice exercises, revision materials and assessments

• Develop resources covering grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing, oral communication and language use

• Create engaging writing activities that develop students' ability to organise ideas, expand vocabulary and express themselves clearly

• Develop comprehension materials that strengthen inference, interpretation, vocabulary-in-context and critical-thinking skills

• Prepare teaching slides, teacher notes and supporting classroom resources where required

• Develop differentiated activities to cater to students of varying learning abilities

• Review, proofread and improve existing English curriculum materials

• Ensure materials are grammatically accurate, age-appropriate and aligned with relevant Singapore MOE learning objectives

• Incorporate inquiry, communication, critical thinking and real-world applications where appropriate

• Work closely with the curriculum team to review, test and refine learning materials

• Complete assigned curriculum projects according to agreed timelines and quality standards

REQUIREMENTS

• Diploma or Degree in English Language, English Literature, Linguistics, Education or a related discipline

• Strong command of written and spoken English

• Good understanding of the Singapore MOE Primary English Language syllabus

• Prior experience teaching Primary 1–Primary 6 English is preferred

• Experience in curriculum development, worksheet creation or educational content development will be an advantage

• IB PYP / inquiry-based learning experience will be an added advantage

• Strong grammar, writing, editing and proofreading skills

• Able to develop structured, engaging and age-appropriate English learning materials

• Able to explain language concepts clearly and effectively

• Creative in developing comprehension, writing and communication activities

• Confident in managing physical classroom lessons

• Responsible, organised, proactive and attentive to detail

• Able to meet agreed curriculum deadlines

• Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with the teaching and curriculum team

• Must be able to travel to our Marine Parade centre for physical teaching assignments

WORK ARRANGEMENT

• Part-Time / Freelance, assignment-based position

• Physical teaching will be conducted at our Marine Parade centre

• Teaching schedules will be assigned according to class requirements and teacher availability

• Curriculum development forms an important part of this position

• Selected curriculum-development assignments may be completed remotely where appropriate

• Candidates must be willing to undertake both teaching and curriculum development responsibilities

• Preference will be given to candidates who are able to commit on a regular and longer-term basis

REMUNERATION

Remuneration is assignment-based and will vary according to the nature of the work assigned.

Regular Teaching Lessons: $25–$35 per hour

Rate will depend on teaching level, qualifications, relevant teaching experience and capability.

Curriculum Development & Academic Support: $12–$20 per hour

• Curriculum writing and development

• Worksheet and teaching-resource creation

• Curriculum review, editing and proofreading

• Lesson preparation

• Student assessments

• Trial classes

• Meetings and training sessions

• Other assigned academic support duties

Important: Trial classes are considered part of the

Curriculum Development & Academic Support scope and are not remunerated at the regular teaching lesson rate.

Final rates will be confirmed based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, capabilities and assigned responsibilities.

We want an educator who understands how children develop strong language and communication skills and can translate that understanding into engaging lessons, meaningful activities and well-structured curriculum resources.

The ideal candidate should be able to contribute both inside the classroom and behind the scenes, helping us continuously strengthen the quality of our English Language programme.
