Livestock Handler (Aquarium Retail)

About the Role

We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Livestock Handler to take full ownership of our aquarium livestock and display tank operations. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining high livestock health standards, designing inspiring display tanks according to current aquascaping trends, managing supplier livestock orders, and providing technical advice to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Livestock Care & Health: Perform daily water chemistry testing, system maintenance, acclimation, quarantine, and disease treatments to ensure optimal fish welfare and minimal mortality.

• Supplier Procurement: Handle livestock ordering from approved wholesalers based on sales trends, inspect incoming shipments, and build strong supplier relationships.

• Display & Aquascaping: Maintain and periodically redesign show tanks using modern aquascaping styles to inspire customer purchases.

• Customer Care & Sales: Assist customers with livestock Selection/bagging, provide expert advice on species compatibility and water parameters, and recommend appropriate care products.

Requirements

• Strong practical experience and background in fishkeeping, aquascaping, or aquatic retail (freshwater and/or marine).

• Solid understanding of water chemistry (pH, ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, GH/KH), fish biology, and common disease treatments.

• Demonstrated talent or keen interest in modern aquascaping and display tank layout design.

• Good communication and customer service skills with a desire to help hobbyists succeed.

• Physical capability to handle routine aquatic maintenance work (water changes, tank cleaning, lifting equipment).
