Full Stack Software Engineer - FX Platform | Contract

Job Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain modern web applications using contemporary frontend and backend technologies.
  • Build responsive, user-friendly interfaces using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and modern frameworks such as React.
  • Develop scalable backend services and microservices using Java and/or TypeScript (Node.js).
  • Design, build, and maintain REST APIs to support application functionality and system integration.
  • Ensure applications are secure, scalable, maintainable, and aligned with enterprise development standards.
  • Develop and maintain integrations between the FX Platform and enterprise systems through APIs, messaging services, and data services.
  • Implement event-driven integrations using messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus, or similar platforms.
  • Support data exchange, synchronisation, and workflow integration across multiple applications and business domains.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve cross-system integration issues to ensure reliable and efficient operations.
  • Work with shared platform services such as authentication, notifications, workflow, scheduling, and common APIs.
  • Deploy and maintain cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure.
  • Support containerised workloads using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Work with Azure services including Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), API Management (APIM), Application Gateway, and Azure Key Vault.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines to automate build, testing, deployment, and release processes.
  • Maintain source code repositories and development workflows using GitLab.
  • Implement secure coding practices and enterprise security controls.
  • Manage security configurations, including TLS certificates, secrets management, and authentication mechanisms.
  • Monitor application performance, reliability, and operational health.
  • Participate in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Work closely with product managers, service designers, technical leads, and business stakeholders to understand business workflows and user needs.
  • Participate in discovery, solution design, prototyping, and implementation activities.
  • Translate business requirements into well-designed technical solutions.
  • Contribute to Agile ceremonies, technical reviews, and release planning.
  • Support application modernisation and migration initiatives within the FX ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with AI engineers to integrate AI-powered capabilities into business applications where required.
  • Strong experience with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Strong experience with React or Angular.
  • Experience developing enterprise applications using Java and/or TypeScript (Node.js).
  • Experience in REST API development and microservices architecture.
  • Experience integrating applications using APIs and messaging technologies.
  • Knowledge of event-driven architectures.
  • Experience with RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus, Kafka, or equivalent platforms.
  • Familiarity with database management and data integration concepts.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes, and Docker.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and GitLab.
  • Understanding of secure software development practices.
  • Understanding of TLS and certificate management.
  • Understanding of identity and access management concepts.
  • Understanding of secrets management (e.g. Azure Key Vault).
  • Preferred: Experience developing applications within large enterprise or government environments.
  • Preferred: Experience with workflow-based systems, case management systems, or operational business applications.
  • Preferred: Experience supporting application migration, modernisation, or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Preferred: Exposure to service design, user research, or product-led development practices.
