Project Director (Construction | Sub-con | RC Structure)

The Project Director will lead, oversee, and optimize dailyoperations across multiple reinforced concrete (RC) structural projects.Working on behalf of a specialist structural subcontractor, this position isresponsible for total operational success, including manpower planning, rebarlogistics, site safety, engineering design/drawing review, client management,and strict financial cost control across all active sites.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operations & Multi-Site Management
- Drive daily operational execution across all assigned site projects to ensure milestones, structural timelines, and quality standards are met.
- Manage project site managers, engineers, and superintendents, serving as the senior escalation point for operational bottlenecks.
- Establish standard operating procedures (SOPs) for site logistics, material staging, concrete pours, and formwork cycles.
2. Strategic Manpower Planning & Recruitment
- Formulate comprehensive manpower allocation strategies based on multi-site project schedules and peak structural demands.
- Lead the recruitment, vetting, and onboarding of key operational personnel, site engineers, foremen, and skilled sub-tier labor/crews.
- Monitor productivity metrics (e.g., cubic meters poured per man-hour, ton of rebar tied per day) and adjust crew sizing dynamically.
3. Rebar Scheduling & Material Logistics
- Oversee the end-to-end rebar management workflow, from schedule generation and cut-and-bend (C&B) lists to site delivery and placement.
- Coordinate closely with rebar fabrication yards/suppliers to align deliveries with crane availability and poured structural sequences.
- Monitor rebar tonnage usage, minimizing scrap rates and material waste on site.
4. Technical, Drawings & Quality Assurance
- Review and approve structural shop drawings, rebar detail drawings, and method statements prior to submission to Main Contractors/Consultants.
- Resolve complex structural design issues, constructability clashes, and technical RFIs (Requests for Information).
- Ensure strict adherence to inspection schedules (e.g., pre-pour formwork, rebar inspection, cube testing) to maintain concrete quality and structural compliance.
5. Cost Control & Financial Management
- Full P&L responsibility for assigned RC structural projects.
- Monitor project budgets, track labor costs, material usage, and equipment/plant rentals across all sites.
- Manage progress billings, variation orders (VOs), claims, and sub-tier subcontractor payments in alignment with main contract conditions.
6. Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Compliance
- Enforce zero-harm site environments and ensure full compliance with regional safety regulations and site-specific HSE policies.
- Oversee safe work procedures for high-risk RC activities, including heavy lifting, tower crane ops, rebar hoisting, deep excavation, and formwork shoring.
- Lead regular safety audits and root-cause analysis for any site incidents or near-misses.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum 10–15+ years of progressive construction experience, with at least 5+ years in a senior management role (Project Director / Senior Project Manager) at a specialist RC sub-contractor.
- Track Record: Proven success managing multiple concurrent high-rise, commercial, or infrastructure RC structure projects.
- Technical Mastery: In-depth knowledge of RC structure cycles, formwork systems (peri, doka, climbing formwork), rebar fabrication/scheduling, and concrete mix designs.
- Engineering Software: Proficiency in reading/analyzing structural drawings (AutoCAD, BIM/Revit, Tekla) and project scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project).
- Commercial Acumen: Strong expertise in structural cost estimating, variation order negotiations, and contract administration.
- Leadership: Exceptional leadership, conflict resolution, and multi-team management skills.
