The Singapore Scout Association is a non-discriminatory youth movement established in 1910 dedicated to the development and enablement of young people in Singapore to become responsible and active citizens. Through the Mission of educating young people on a value system based on the Scout Promise and Scout Law, Scouts help to build a better world where people are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in society.

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Front-of-House & Customer Service: Provide friendly, professional, and customer-focused service to Scout youths, leaders, parents, teachers, and organisational stakeholders visiting the shop.

  2. Merchandise & Sales Promotion: Promote and sell Scout uniforms, badges, and related merchandise while assisting customers with product fit, enquiries, and purchase decisions.

  3. Daily Store Operations: Manage daily shop opening/closing procedures, cash register/POS operations, and ensure the Scout Shop remains clean, organised, well-stocked, and presentable at all times.

  4. Inventory & Stock Management: Receive, unpack, organise, and maintain inventory and incoming stock efficiently. Conduct regular stock counts and report discrepancies to supervisors.

  5. Event Logistics Support: Assist in packing, preparing orders, and managing logistics for Scout events, programmes, and activities.

  6. Process Improvement: Support the implementation and improvement of operational floor processes to ensure smooth day-to-day shop workflows.

  7. Ad-Hoc Duties: Develop, manage, and implement any projects or duties assigned by the supervisor or Executive Director.

Desirable Attributes & Qualifications

  • Minimum qualification level: Nitec, Retailing & Wholesaling, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience in retail operations, shop floor management, or inventory control.

  • Core Competencies: Strong interest in retail workflows, well-rounded with stock management, and capable of working independently on the shop floor.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Enjoys interacting with youths and the community in a positive, responsible, and proactive manner.

  • Courteous, articulate, and reliable with a team-oriented work attitude.
