Working Hours & Schedule
- Daily Hours: Mondays to Fridays, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM (Includes a 1-hour lunch break).
- School Holiday Perks: Services are not required during standard MOE/school holiday periods (specifically early-to-mid June and November–December blocks) unless requested by the school.
- Rest Days: Off on Saturdays, Sundays, and all gazetted public holidays.
Core Responsibilities
You will support the operations of the Nutrition and Food Science (NFS) Department by ensuring practical lessons run seamlessly and maintaining an organized, hygienic kitchen environment.
1. Lesson Preparation & Logistics Support
- Tray Setup: Prepare and arrange raw ingredients and equipment trays for daily NFS practical lessons and practical examinations.
- Procurement Support: Assist teachers with ordering food supplies, new kitchen equipment, and cleaning materials.
- Inventory Control: Keep a detailed track of ingredient stock levels and closely monitor product expiry dates.
2. Kitchen Maintenance & Hygiene
- Daily Housekeeping: Maintain the cleanliness of two NFS training kitchens by sweeping, mopping, clearing waste bins, and cleaning cookers, tables, or sinks left untidy after student use.
- Appliance Care: Thoroughly deep-clean department refrigerators twice a year (specifically in June and October).
- Laundry Management: Regularly wash, dry, and fold kitchen aprons and towels using the school's provided washing machines and dryers.
3. Safety & Facilities Reporting
- Defect Escalation: Actively check workspaces and contact the Operations Manager (OM) to report physical defects or broken infrastructure in the kitchens.
- Ad-Hoc Tasks: Perform other operational tasks assigned by the Principal, HOD Science, or Administration Manager.
Job Requirements
- Education: Preferably possess at least a Secondary School Education.
- Experience: Ideally 1 year of relevant experience working as an FCE/NFS Kitchen Assistant within a secondary school setting in Singapore.
- Language & Culinary Skills: Must be able to communicate in simple English, and a basic ability to cook is highly preferred to better aid practical lesson workflows.
- Attributes: High standard of personal hygiene, detail-oriented storage habits, and a strong sense of responsibility in a school setting.
